Our IPAP students had an incredible opportunity to train alongside 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in a hands-on medical training event focused on delivering care across the continuum of the operational environment.

Students worked through realistic scenarios emphasizing Point of Injury (POI) Care, Prolonged Field Care (PFC), and Role 1 Care—putting their clinical knowledge, critical thinking, teamwork, and adaptability to the test.

A special shoutout to OC Morris, one of our PA students, who played an integral role in helping plan and coordinate this outstanding training opportunity.

Thank you to the 5th SFG(A) team for sharing their expertise and experience, and to our ESD staff for facilitating and supporting an exceptional day of training.
Experiences like these help prepare our future PAs to provide high-quality care wherever the mission takes them. From the line, for the line!🇺🇸🩺

Great training at FTCKY yesterday! PA student Dan Medrano, with the help of his colleagues, led an outstanding airway management training session for medics from the 101st ABN DIV (AASLT), BACH, and the 586th Field Hospital.
The training focused on practical airway management skills with plenty of hands-on opportunities to build confidence and proficiency. These collaborative training opportunities strengthen our medical teams and help ensure our medics are prepared to provide high-quality care in the field.
Excellent work, Dan, and thank you to all of the medics who participated! 💪🇺🇸

Our FTCKY IPAP students had the opportunity to participate in K9 Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) training focusing on medical care for military working dogs and service dogs. This hands-on training reinforced the unique considerations involved in assessing, stabilizing, and transporting K9 patients during tactical scenarios. Experiences like these help prepare future Army Physician Assistants to provide effective medical support across diverse mission sets. Thank you to Aaron Tippett from ESD and his service dogs, Angel and Simba, for facilitating this training for us!

FTCKY IPAP students recently had the privilege of training alongside the medics of 1-506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). The training began with the evaluation of combat trauma lanes, allowing students to assess casualty management and provide feedback on tactical medical care in an operational environment. Students then participated in a Role 1 medical treatment scenario, reinforcing the principles of triage and team-based medical care. The event concluded with a Human Performance (H2F) brief, highlighting the resources and capabilities available to enhance Soldier lethality, resilience, and readiness. Opportunities like these strengthen the integration of future Army Physician Assistants with operational medical assets and reinforce our commitment to supporting the warfighter wherever the mission takes us. Thanks to 1LT Alexandria Hendrix for facilitating this training for us. “From the line, for the line!”

Last week, our IPAP students had the opportunity to learn Battlefield Acupuncture techniques from Mr. Brill (a former Army PA!). Great hands-on training focused on expanding non-opioid pain management skills and improving patient care. FTCKY IPAP leads the way!

Not your average classroom day. Army PA students getting hands-on training with lateral canthotomies — because preserving vision in high-pressure situations takes skill, confidence, and repetition. Proud of this group stepping up to learn lifesaving procedures. 🇺🇸
