The film's release date of June 9 is officially recognized by the Walt Disney Company as Donald's birthday despite a couple of in-universe contradictions. (source: Wikipedia)

Thank you Disney for spreading some magic at Fort Campbell!

UPDATE: There will be a table set up in front of the USO. You will be required to get out of your vehicle to choose your movie and grab your popcorn. We are asking that every one stay socially distanced during pick up.

Effective Monday, June 8, by direction of the Senior Commander, Fort Campbell installation services to active duty military will begin at 9 a.m. so as not to interfere with PT hours. This applies to all personnel and/or units on Fort Campbell and whether in uniform or not.

These services include, among others, Soldier Support Center services, Army Community Services, Soldier for Life - Transition Assistance Program, DA Photos etc. These services are available to active duty starting at 9 a.m. daily.

Some services such as the Soldier Support Center may still open prior to 9 a.m. and we encourage dependents, retirees and civilian employees to take advantage of these earlier hours in order to maximize our support to active duty after 9 a.m.

If you have an existing service appointment, for example ID Card, and it is prior to 9 a.m., it will be rescheduled, so please contact that office. Thanks for your understanding and patience as we implement these new service hours.

Soldiers of HHC do their part to preserve unit history at the 101st ABN DIV Pratt Museum.

Soldiers of HHC do their part to preserve unit history at the 101st ABN DIV Pratt Museum.

The Pratt Museum possesses one of the few remaining World War II-era gliders in the world. Often known as “flying coffins” by the men who rode in them, many Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division used gliders during the Normandy invasion and during Operation Market Garden in Holland. The 101st also received resupply and reinforcements via glider at Bastogne. The Pratt Museum is grateful for all the help it has received in repairing, moving, and re-assembling its WACO CG-4A Glider back inside the renovated Pratt Museum. The Glider will be open to the public for visits in spring of 2018. Special thanks to SSG Thompson and other Soldiers of the 96th ASB for their expertise in repairing damaged portions, to the Soldiers and NCOs of 96th ASB and A Co, B Co, & HHC/1-327th for their labor in moving and re-assembling the glider, to the contractors of Building Four Fabrication (BLDG 4) who lifted and fastened the fuselage into place, and to the Soldiers and NCOs of the 594th Transportation Company, 129th CSSB for their equipment and skill, without which, transporting such a delicate piece of history would have been impossible.

On this day in 1968, SGT Jon L. Grimmett (A/1-327) earned the Silver Star for his actions during Vietnam. Full citation:

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 8, 1918 (amended by act of July 25, 1963), takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Sergeant Jon Leslie Grimmett (ASN: RA-14943440), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, in the Republic of Vietnam, on 24 January 1968. Sergeant Grimmett distinguished himself on a combat operation near Song Be, Republic of Vietnam. His company was taken under fire by intense automatic weapons and machine guns from a distance of 20 to 30 meters by an undetermined size enemy force. Automatic weapons fire from the enemy bunkers and snipers in the trees on the flanks pinned down the point squad. Sergeant Grimmett, the point squad leader, immediately began to maneuver his squad to a more defensive location by crawling from man to man. He saw his machine gunner fall wounded and lying in an exposed position directly in the path of interlocking machine gun fire. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Sergeant Grimmett crawled back to secure the machine gun and put it back into action. Realizing that the two bunkers directly to his front were placing accurate and suppressive fire on his squad rendering them unable to maneuver effectively, Sergeant Grimmett rose from his prone position and began pouring a continuous stream of machine gun fire down in both bunkers. At this time an enemy position on Sergeant Grimmett's flank shifted their fire onto him. He continued to place accurate fire on the enemy until he was mortally wounded. Sergeant Grimmett's personal bravery and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
