Fort Carson Tax Center Free tax preparation services for active duty Servicemembers, mobilized Reservists, dependents, and retirees. Handicap parking is available upon request.

The Tax Center offers free individual income tax preparation services to active duty Servicemembers, mobilized Reservists, dependents, and retirees. All of our tax preparers are certified by the IRS as both military and advanced income tax preparers, and many are also certified to address specific international tax issues. In 2012, the Tax Center prepared over 3,100 income tax returns, obtained mo

re than $9,500,000 in refunds for our clients, and saved our clients over $800,000 in tax preparation fees. Parking lots are accessible from Barkeley Ave, Nelson Blvd, Magrath Ave, and Ellis Street.

Colorado conforms to the Military Spouses Residency Relief Act. For tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2009, wages and tips of qualifying nonresident spouses are not taxable in Colorado. A qualifying spouse must have moved to Colorado from another state, be in Colorado solely to accompany their AD spouse, and have the same state of residency as the home of record as the servicemember. A qualifying spouse must submit a DR 1059 to their employer every year. This form can be found on the Colorado Department of Revenue website.
