On April 13th Det 90 Cadets had the opportunity to talk to NASA astronaut Dr. Kjell N. Lindgren!

Dr. Kjell N. Lindgren was selected by NASA in 2009. He spent most of his childhood abroad and returned to the
U.S. to complete his education and earn a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Colorado. He is board certified in emergency medicine. After serving as the Deputy Crew Surgeon for STS-130 and Expedition 24, he was selected as an astronaut in June 2009 as one of 14 members of the 20th NASA astronaut class. Dr. Lindgren flew on Expedition 44/45 and logged 141 days in space.
He participated in two spacewalks and completed more than a hundred different scientific experiments. He also served as commander of NASA's Space× Crew-4 mission to the International Space Station, returning home on Oct.
14, 2022. The 170 day mission was the first flight of the Crew Dragon "Freedom" spacecraft. Lindgren has spent a cumulative total of 311 days in space across his two spaceflights.

This was a unique opportunity for the Det 90 Family. Thank you Dr. Kjell N. Lindgren!

To close out women’s history month, Det 90 alum Lt. Miki Maroney shared her experience and impact that Det 90 had on her. She is currently in pilot training at Vance AFB and we cannot wait to see what great things she does in the future:

Coming from a family with no military background, Detachment 90 was my first experience in an Air Force environment. The four years I spent as a cadet I met some of my best friends, learned from incredible mentors/classmates and grew into a confident leader. Being involved in student organizations and participating in the many professional development trainings offered I came to love the Air Force community. The camaraderie and hard working mindset at Det 90 pushed me to be my best and led me to where I am today!
