Thankful Thursday: Celebrating the Heart of Olander ❤

Our 5th graders are back from their incredible Eco Experience trip, and our nests are full of pride! 🌲🦅 Outdoor education gives our Ospreys rich opportunities to overcome fears, tackle new challenges, and step boldly out of their comfort zones into their stretch zones.

An experience this impactful takes a whole flock to make happen. We want to extend a massive thank you to our amazing families for your financial support and dedication to making this trip possible. We also give a huge shoutout to our incredible Olander PTO—your partnership, fundraising support, and tireless work helped ensure every student could spread their wings on this adventure!

"I really like the big rope swing. It was so fun, but terrifying. As soon as you jumped you felt like you were just falling until the rope drew you back up." -5th Grader

"I really liked the history on the last day, as well as the breakfast and dinner." -5th Grader

"Eco is such an incredible opportunity for our students. Watching the kids overcome challenges and cheer each other on is amazing. It's something I look forward to every year!" -Miss Jess

"Eco allows us to connect with our Ospreys by creating unforgettable memories and we get to watch them learn, laugh, and conquer challenges in a different environment." -Ms. S

Calling all past and present Ospreys! Whether your student just got back this week or attended Eco years ago, we want to hear from you. 👇 Drop a comment below sharing a favorite memory from Olander’s Eco Experience, or tell us why you are thankful for this amazing tradition!

Thank you for helping our Ospreys soar higher every day! 💚💙

Flying high with gratitude,
The Olander Osprey Family

News From the Nest 🦅

What a fantastic start to the year for our Olander Ospreys! Our nest has been bustling with creativity, teamwork, and outdoor adventures. Check out what our students have been up to this week in the photos below:

🔴 Making Our Mark: Inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ The Dot, 2nd graders created unique dot paintings, learning that everyone can be creative and courage begins with a single mark!

🗣️ Spreading Positivity: After reading Say Something, also by Peter H. Reynolds, 4th graders used their voices to leave inspiring, positive chalk messages in front of Olander. Take a look next time you fly by the school!

🤝 The Osprey Way: 1st graders are flying high while practicing the trait of cooperation, and other classes started the year off right with hula hut team-building challenges in PE!

🥾 Outdoor Explorers: 5th grade got their feathers ready for the great outdoors by participating in our Eco practice hike. Check out the action shots on the trail!

🎨 Art & Library Fun: Students kicked off the year in art by playing "Sculptionary" (Pictionary with Playdough!), while our Kindergartners explored the fun new Creation Stations in the library.

💙 Supporting Our Flock: 3rd grade had a special visit from Mrs. Peacock to learn all about inclusion at Olander, so we can learn how to best support all our friends.

We are so proud of how our Ospreys are starting the year! Drop a 💙 in the comments to cheer them on!

Splish, Splash, Our Reading Ospreys Made a Splash! 🫧📚

Our Olander Ospreys proved this summer that reading is a blast, and today, they had a foam-tastic celebration to prove it! 🎉

Students who crushed their summer reading goals got to wrap up the school day dancing, laughing, and flying high through a massive foam party! The energy in the nest was absolutely soaring. 🦅✨

A massive Osprey Thank You to our incredible Olander PTO for sponsoring this unforgettable reward, and to Ann Lincoln Entertainment - A Colorado Family Favorite for bringing the ultimate foam fun to our campus! You both made our reading celebration unforgettable.

News From the Nest 🦅

Our flock has had a fantastic first week back in the nest learning, growing, and building community! Take a look at what’s been happening around the school:

📚 Kindergarten: Our newest chicks kicked off their Olander careers listening to Mr. Arnoff read, exploring literacy centers, and enjoying each other at recess.

🏫 1st Grade: Way to show the 3B's of the Osprey Way! First graders did an incredible job practicing lining up and coming into school.

🕰️ 2nd Grade: Taking flight into local history! Students dove deep into Fort Collins' past and are busy building timelines of important people and places. They also created their very own trading cards! They drew self-portraits on the front and shared fun facts about themselves on the back.

📖 3rd Grade: Third graders shared what they want to be when they grow up before settling into comfy spots for some silent reading.

🎒 4th Grade: We loved seeing all the unique and wonderful items 4th graders shared from their "all about me" bags with the class this week!

🤝 5th Grade: Soaring with teamwork! Our 5th graders put their cooperation and collaboration skills to the test with the fun "Save Fred" challenge.

Keep flying high, Ospreys! 🦅
