OUR SERVICES
We here at Adoption Dreams Come True recognize that many families with small children in our community need practical support. Because of this ongoing need, the Dream Room was created to serve this population. Our mission is to serve our customers with dignity and respect and provide a no-fee shopping experience.
The Dream Room offers a large selection of donated clothing, toys, baby gear, and DIAPERS. Our customers can shop once a month. If available the customer may take 7 complete outfits, 7 sleepers, diapers and accessories per child. Our reward is seeing a smile on the faces of our customers as they leave.
If you are pregnant, you may shop at the Dream Room one month prior to your delivery date and then monthly after your baby is born, until the child is two years old.
We ask that you provide proof of residence (EX: DMV i.d., or utility bill) and a copy of the child’s birth certificate, and you will then be added to our database. We do not keep these documents, only check them for validation.

My Beautiful Hard Choice
Seven years ago I placed my infant son for adoption. Not a day has gone by since that I have not thought about him, yet I believe I made the right decision. I share my story in the hope that it might help other young women with the incredibly difficult decision that they must make for themselves and their babies.
When I first found out that I was pregnant, I was terrified, terrified of what my parents would say and do, terrified of how the baby's father would react. I told my mom in the only way I could, I wrote her a letter. She responded better than I had hoped. I was sure that my father would kick me out of the house when he found out. Instead he sat still for a while, then he got up and hugged me, assuring me that he would be there for me.
The way the baby's father reacted to the news was not what I expected. His first question was ""Who's the father?"" I couldn't believe his reaction. When he found out about the baby, it was as if a war had erupted between us. At first, he wanted me to have an abortion, but I insisted that I was going to keep my baby or at least explore my options. Then he started pushing for adoption, which to me seemed cold-hearted. I couldn't understand how someone could just hand over his or her child for someone else to raise. He didn't even want to know what the baby would look like.
One night I woke up suddenly, aware of exactly what I had to do. I felt as if I had clarity that adoption was the best choice for everyone involved ESPECIALLY the baby. Given my earlier feelings, I was shocked at the sense of certainty I felt. I went back to sleep that night feeling some peace within myself. Other than my family, few people agreed with my decision. Everyone who learned about the situation had an opinion about what I should do and made a point of making sure that I heard their opinion. People asked me why and how I could do such a thing. I tried to politely say that it was in the baby's best interests. I tried to ignore their criticism, but it was hard. Although there were still times I questioned what I was doing, deep down I knew that adoption was the best option for me, and most importantly, for the baby. The baby would be happier in a home with a loving parent/s who could give him what he needed.
Once I'd finally made up my mind about adoption, I had to find an adoption agency that wouldn't treat my baby like a commodity. My family and I heard about Adoption Dreams Come True. I didn't bother to look into other alternatives. The agency staff treated me kindly and with respect and discussed all of my options and gave me complete control over how things were done. I was able to choose the adoptive parents which helped me feel more comfortable about my decision. Somehow the process of picking out the adoptive parents helped me cope with my emotions.
I was able to read all of their adoptive family profiles which included a very informative and heartfelt letter written to prospective birth parents. Each letter provided information about what each person did for a living, what their interests were, and what their extended families were like. These letters gave me some insight into what each person was like. There were photos and stories that introduced me to each family.
Although I read each letter many times, one of them caught my eye from the very beginning. The couple somehow seemed like a good fit to be the parents of my child. They had a lot of love to share with a baby. Once I had chosen this couple, then I had to decide whether or not I wanted to meet this couple. I was glad the decision was mine to make.
When I decided to go ahead and that I wanted an open adoption, we had a meeting. The agency was there to help guide all of us and to make this initial meeting as comfortable as possible. This meeting put my mind at ease about what kind of home and family my child would be growing up in. I knew I had made the right choice for my child. Throughout the rest of my pregnancy, I communicated with the family when it felt right to me, there was no pressure. Communication helped me more than I could have imagined. Knowing them showed me how much they cared about my child but also about me. They even told me that they would understand if my decision changed. The bond between my baby and me grew steadily stronger. I began to realize how hard it was going to be to give him the adoptive parents. As the due date grew closer, I tried to block out the fact that this child would not leave the hospital with me.
Labor began- this was my first child, so I didn’t know what to expect. Adoption Dreams Come True and the adoptive family came to the hospital and I had the honor of placing my baby in his new parent’s arms. At first, I wasn't sure if I could do this but as I looked down at my baby boy, I knew it was time and it was right. I couldn't have gotten through that day — or any other for that matter — without the help and support from Adoption Dreams Come True.
Since my son's birth, I have moved on with my life. I still receive pictures, letters, and see him a few times a year. I still think about him every day. I am thankful that he has parents who are taking great care of him and love him with all their hearts. I know that placing a child for adoption, a child that you cannot take care of properly, is the most unselfish thing that any birth mother can do for her child.

March 16, 2020

We wanted to reach out to let you know that during these stressful time we will continue our work with birth parents with unplanned pregnacies and families who want to adopt.

Our agency is following CDC guidelines regarding cleanliness, no one working who is showing signs of illness (which is no one at this point) and working only essential hours. We have always been on call 24 x 7 and will continue to do so for birth parents and are available to our adoptive families and waiting families via phone/email to discuss any issues. Cindy, Adrienne or Ginger will be available to answer any questions you might have, understanding that we may not have all the answers at this time.

It is more important than ever that you let us know if you are traveling or become ill in the event of a match or placement for licensed families.

For adoptive families who currently have a placement, we will work closely with you on post-placement visits and our ability to use skype as a protective measure for everyone involved.

If there are any policy or procedural changes directed by the Department of Human Services that impact our work, we will let you know immediately.

As our licensed families know, we have cancelled our annual Adoptive Family Training on April 4th for 2020 but will reschedule in early 2021. This training is for licensed families only, not Waiting Families

Over the next several weeks, please stay safe and feel free to call us with any questions you might have. Thanks for being a part of the Adoption Dreams family.
