Today is Colorado Gives Day! Today is an opportunity to give to your local nonprofit orginazations. The Larimer County Dive team is a nonprofit that has been serving the county for over 50 years. We are always grateful to our donors as their financial support helps keep our team safe by giving us the means to purchase new equipment, maintain our current equipment, and fund training opportunities.

The Larimer County Dive Rescue Team is a self-funded, all-volunteer water rescue organization. To keep LCDRT operating, we must rely on the local community for donations and support. Local support is paramount to the LCDRT existence and ability to properly train and equip...

This morning our team conducted our annual watermanship test. The test consists of a 500 yard swim, 15 minute tread, 800 yard snorkel swim, 100 yard inert rescue tow and a free dive to retrieve a brick from the bottom of the pool. Everyone did great! We finished things up by refreshing some basic scuba skills.

We had an awesome time at Polaris today teaching students how to stay safe in the water and what to do if things don’t go as planned. They got to check out our dive truck, learn about our operations, and even see a dryland dive demo in action!

We always love connecting with our community and sharing what we do to keep everyone safe on the water. Please reach out to us if you are interested in joining or want to learn more about what we do!

Search efforts at Horsetooth Reservoir turn into a recovery Sunday for a missing paddleboarder

On Sunday, September 7, a report came in of a missing paddleboarder at Horsetooth Reservoir, near Satanka Cove. Larimer County Parks, Poudre Fire Authority, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services, Colorado Parks and Wildlife units and Larimer County Dive Rescue responded to the area to search for the missing person. The paddleboarder was not wearing a personal flotation device.

Crews searched the area where the paddleboarder was last seen, and utilized drones, boats, and sonar in an attempt to locate the missing person. Unfortunately, at this time, search efforts have turned into a recovery for the paddleboarder. Satanka Cove and the surrounding area remains closed due to ongoing recovery efforts.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the individual, as well as the person’s cause and manner of death, at a later time.

Last night, members of our team worked with Larimer County Emergency Services during an ROV training event. We were able to familiarize ourselves with how this machine works and practiced controlling it. We’re always interested in learning how to use new tools to help our community.
