Center for Protected Area Management

Center for Protected Area Management The Center for Protected Area Management was formed to assist protected area professionals in strengthening the management of the world's protected areas.

We imagine a more prosperous, equitable, and environmentally conscious world in which the planet’s protected areas and biodiversity are effectively conserved and adaptively managed. CPAM will be recognized as one of the global leaders in building individual and organizational capacity to manage protected areas. Our leadership will be used to develop the capacity to plan and effectively manage a re

presentative and resilient global network of protected areas that provides essential environmental services and improves human well-being. We are the example for excellence in training and capacity development for protected areas and contribute in a meaningful way to the literature, actively engage in discourse regarding the importance of capacity building, and produce materials that directly support training. We achieve our vission by:
1. Participating in technical collaboration and capacity building projects with the individuals and organizations involved in protected area management, both nationally and internationally
2. Providing opportunities for students interested in protected area management to get involved in projects
3. Contributing to the shared knowledge base and creating networks (communities of practice) of protected area managers throughout the world
4. Integrating the knowledge and experience gained while working with protected area managers into professional literature, training materials, courses, seminars, and other university activities
