đź’ˇ Tip 1: Swap out your incandescent light bulbs for LED bulbs!

Did you know that traditional incandescent light bulbs can reach over 250°F? That heat then disperses throughout the house.

LED bulbs only reach around 120°F, cool enough to touch even while lit.

🫶 Thanks for doing your part during the voluntary Water Shortage Watch! We’re blue when we see yellow grass too… so here are some ways to keep your grass going and conserve water at the same time:

🌄 Water only two days a week, before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. 

💧 Use the “cycle and soak” method splitting irrigation run times and letting water soak in instead of running off 

🌱 Apply a thin layer of compost to help roots hold moisture 

👣 Give stressed, yellowing patches a break from foot and pet traffic 

It’s hard when your lawn is looking sad. But when things cool down, it should bounce back. Keep up the twice-weekly watering and hand water dry patches to help it recover before winter.

ALERT: Widespread high temperatures, generation resource outages and low output from wind and solar resources across the western footprint of the Southwest Power Pool has prompted the regional transmission organization to issue an energy emergency alert in the region, including the Platte River Power Authority. Customers in Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont and Loveland are asked to reduce electricity use today between now and 9 p.m.

Update: Crews completed the repair and street access is back to normal.

There is a water main break near South Shields and West Plum streets. To access the break and give crews space to work safely, we are closing one southbound lane on South Shields Street from West Laurel to West Elizabeth streets. Additionally, West Plum is closed from Aster to South Shields streets.

Though no customers are expected to be out of water, the repair will likely take all day.
