Centaurs - 100 Years Ago Today, it was finally 'Over, Over There.' As we close out the Armistice Centennial, we would like to share the George M. Cohan classic, "Over There." Perhaps the most important song of the Great War, it remains synonymous with the American fighting spirit.

Please enjoy this early recording, set to both black and white, and colored footage of American troops in WWI.

NOTE - the 6th Field Artillery makes a brief cameo at 2:53. This footage of the Centaurs firing their 75mm M1897s in a direct-fire role was shot during the battle of St. Mihiel in September, 1918.

Swift & Bold!!!

Centaur Nation - 100 Years Ago to The Second... The Shooting has stopped on the Western Front and a great silence, the first in four years, has fallen across the trenches.

To the Officers and Men of the 6th Field Artillery, there is no wild celebration. Beyond exhausted, they have been in combat for 41 straight days in the Meuse-Argonne Campaign, the last big drive of the War. A quiet, and perhaps stoic calm is the Regiment's mood. When the news arrives, they are preparing for a new drive, and a new offensive.

In no small part played by the 6th Field Artillery Regiment... it is a drive that will never come.

Over 100 Centaurs, from October 23rd, 1917 to November 11th, 1918... have made the Ultimate Sacrifice.

Swift & Bold!
