Mandatory Fun | Army Wife Network

I used to think just like this when my husband and I first got married, but the more I became a part of the FRG the more I understand it's purpose. During non-deployments, these things can be annoying and seem a waste of time, but when deployment comes (and they always come) it is nice to know some families that are right there with you and can lend support. These events during non-deployment gives families in the unit time to get to know one another so that when our soldiers are gone, we are not meeting for the first time. I encourage everyone to take the hour or two a month during FRG Meetings or "Mandatory Fun" events to get to know the other spouses in your husbands unit. When the inevitable deployment comes, you will be surprised at what a difference it can make.

Tis the season for mandatory fun. This time of year brings FRG potlucks, coffee group White Elephant exchanges and all sorts of other renditions of the same.

Since we are unable to have our Christmas Party in December, we are going to have an information meeting 16 December @ 1700. The location is TBD and I will let you know as soon as we have a set location. We will be discussing JRTC and Block Leave. If anyone has any questions, this will be a good time to ask

Hope to see everyone there!

As a reminder, we are doing a bake sale 16 OCT starting @ 1000 in the motor pool. If anyone would like to help out, we could always use volunteers. If you would like to make something to sale please be sure that it is labeled and that you have your food handlers certificate. You can get this online (google fort drum food handlers). Please let me know if you are interested in helping out.

So far we will have a variety of cupcakes, brownies, and homemade granola bars (if I get them right).

With Operation Summit Judgement complete, Forge begins packing to return home. Although our work will continue for the next two days, and our trail party faces the challenge of loading the battalion's fleet of vehicles with just 40 personnel, we are now very close to returning home for a well deserved rest.

As the exercise continued, 2LT Jones decided that a tree in the company footprint needed to be removed. SGT Mann helpfully showed him how to avoid being injured, and later, SPC Ellgood took pity and staked the tree back upright.

Today we held another Ceremony, this time the Change of Responsibility from 1SG Mark Taylor to 1SG Jarvis Daigle. It was 1SG Taylor's last formation bringing an end to a career of over 29 years of service. 1SG Daigle is no stranger to the Fort Drum. He comes to us from the 7th Engineer Battalion where he served as the FSC First Sergeant and the in the Battalion S3. He bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will become very valuable as the Company prepares for the deployment to Michigan next month.
