Carthage Central School District

An update from Mrs. Premo:

As you are aware, in an effort to limit exposure and reduce the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, the District is closed to students from March 16, 2020 through April 17, 2020 . While this crisis is scary, specifically for the elderly and those with compromised immune systems, it is manageable. This message will be longer than normal with important details and information.

Over the past three days our Administrative Team, along with Union Leaders, and BOE Members have spent a great deal of their time preparing for an extended closure of schools to our students. I thank them sincerely and appreciate all of them very much.

Throughout the course of this week the District will be providing updates in regard to educational resources for students, meal services for students, and the continuation of essential functions of the District. The District website will be a great place to check for links and resources that can be helpful for your families. We will communicate via SchoolMessenger calls, our District website, Peachjar, Parent Square, and mailings. Rumors can circulate quickly. I urge you to follow our school-district sponsored communication efforts to stay informed through the methods I have outlined.

All five buildings in the District will be open from 9:00 am- 11:00 am this week, Tuesday through Friday. If your child needs to get personal belongings from the school, they can visit during these open hours and someone will be there to assist them.

Carthage Central School is supporting families by continuing to provide meals to students while school is closed. Beginning Friday March 20th, CSD will offer FREE breakfast and FREE lunch deliveries to all children in the district ages 18 & under. Food will be delivered every Tuesday and Friday and each delivery will contain multiple meals. If you are interested in receiving meals please call 315-493-5068 or visit our district website and complete the Google form. www.carthagecsd.org

As I am sure you can imagine, updates are coming to us literally minute by minute. We are doing everything possible to inform and support you. We will continue to respond quickly to questions or concerns.

Thank you,

CURRENT HHC Spouses, An important update was pushed out earlier regarding the Covid-19 Virus. Please PM your email so you can be added to the distribution list! Thank you.

At Governor Andrew Cuomo’s daily press conference today, he said school districts will be the ones to decide if they choose to close due to the coronavirus.
