Today as you celebrate with your family and friends, take a second to appreciate this day's history. On July 4th, 1776, 56 delegates signed the Declaration of Independence that changed the world forever. They stood behind the idea of freedom that we know and love today. Since that time, Soldiers have fought tirelessly to protect that freedom whenever the need arose. The Sherpa Battalion carries on this tradition and Proud to Support our nation's freedom. Be proud of the work you do and the uniform we wear. Have an amazing 4th of July Sherpas!

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."

U.S. Army Birthday Showcase

On 14 June 1775, Congress "resolved, That six companies of expert riflemen, be immediately raised in Pennsylvania, two in Maryland, and two in Virginia… [and] as soon as completed, shall march and join the army neat Boston, to be there employed as light infantry, under the command of the chief officer in that army."

Since that time, the Army has continued expanding and evolving into today's adaptive highly-skilled fighting force. Yet, the same resolve and purpose for creation ring as distinct today as it did in 1775… freedom.

Our Sherpa Soldiers and Family Members exit one of our nation's trying times caused by a global pandemic. Let us reflect on the trials we faced but rejoice in our resiliency to endure.

Today marks the anniversary of the largest air, land and sea operation in modern military history. As dawn broke on June 6th, approximately 156,000 Allied troops began the invasion of Normandy. The resolve of the Allied forces ensured a foot hold on the European peninsula. The Battle of Normandy has been called the end of the war. Let us take a second and remember.
