With deep sadness, the South Glens Falls Fire Company announces the passing of Bonnie Dickinson.

Bonnie dedicated many years of service to our organization, beginning as a valued member of the Auxiliary before joining the Fire Police, where she proudly attained the rank of Lieutenant.

Bonnie's commitment to the company was evident in all that she did. She loved being involved and was always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed. Her warm smile, kind heart, and welcoming personality made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a unique ability to make people feel comfortable and valued, and her presence was a source of positivity throughout our firehouse.

A strong believer in learning and personal growth, Bonnie took advantage of every training opportunity she could. She was always eager to expand her knowledge and skills so she could better serve both the company and the community.

Bonnie's dedication, compassion, and selfless service made her an invaluable member of the South Glens Falls Fire Company. More than a fellow member, she was a friend, a mentor, and a cherished part of our firehouse family.

Her loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside her.

Rest easy, Bonnie. We have the watch from here.

Tonight, members of SGFFC participated in an SCBA “breathe-down” drill with a little friendly competition mixed in!

Members played kickball while wearing their SCBA and remaining on air, helping simulate working under a physical load while practicing controlled breathing, air management, communication, and maintaining situational awareness.

Training doesn’t always have to be serious to be effective. Tonight’s drill gave our members the opportunity to build confidence and reinforce important SCBA skills while working together and having some fun!

Here are all the baskets that we have received from our community to help our firefighter Bonnie Dickinson who is fighting cancer.
We will be serving dinner from 4-7PM with dine-in, take out or curbside service. We will be taking phone calls for to go orders starting at 3:30, you can call 518-798-4020 to place your order. We will have 50/50 raffle, big tickets items, t-shirts and stickers for sale.This is a Cash Only event.

This evening, members of SGFFC trained alongside our partners from West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company and Bay Ridge Volunteer Fire Company during a multi-agency dive team exercise on the Hudson River.

The Hudson River is a shared area for South Glens Falls and West Glens Falls, making it essential that our companies train together. Drills like this strengthen communication, build teamwork, and ensure we’re prepared to respond safely and effectively when every second counts.

When an emergency happens on the water, department names don’t matter—we work together as one team with one mission: providing the best possible service to our community.
