I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of our patrons who continue to support our much-enjoyed community library. Despite the challenges that come with limited funding, we are thrilled to see and hear many individuals in our surrounding area recognize the value our small library brings.
In 2025, patrons collectively saved an incredible $109,441.03 by choosing to utilize our library's resources and borrow materials instead of purchasing them. This achievement shows that libraries remain essential and play a vital role in people's lives today. Your commitment to our library not only enriches your own lives but also helps to foster a strong sense of community. We are grateful for each and every one of you who acknowledges the importance of libraries.

The Fort Edward Free Library is a Proud Recipient of the 2026 Stewart’s Foundation Holiday Match Program.

This past January, the Stewart’s Holiday Match Grant Program received 1,886 applications requesting over $4 million in support, while they had just over $1.8 million available to donate. With so many worthy organizations, they faced some exceptionally tough decisions, focusing on needs versus wants.

Since the inception of the Holiday Match Program, over $40 million has been allocated and distributed to numerous non-profit organizations. The success of this program is thanks to the diligence of customers and their generous contributions, dedicated Shop Partners who worked tirelessly to collect the funds, and media partners who helped spread the word across many regions. This $1,250 donation to our library will help support many of our programs throughout the year for children under 18 years of age residing within our community and surrounding communities.

The Fort Edward School Drama Club will perform Shrek the Musical this coming Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14, at 7 PM in the high school auditorium.
Starting today through March 11, 2026, you can enter to win one of four free tickets at the Fort Edward Free Library to attend this fantastic play. The winning tickets will be drawn at 12:45 PM March 11, 2026 and winners will be notified that afternoon.
What a great opportunity to possibly see this musical for FREE and visit your local library.

Fort Edward Town and Village Trash Stickers

The Fort Edward Free Library is now authorized by the Town Board to sell Town & Village trash stickers, enhancing convenience for the community during times when town offices are closed. We will have them available, as well, during library open hours.

Each trash sticker cost is $2, with a limit of 20 stickers per purchase. Payment options include cash, coins, or a check from a local bank (note that starter checks are not accepted, and a valid driver’s license is required). No debit/credit card transactions.
Stickers will become available for purchasing on February 1, 2026.

Additionally, the library will sell Forever stamps at the current price,
with the same payment guidelines as trash stickers.

Library hours are:
Monday - Thursday: 9 AM-1 PM
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday:3 PM-6 PM
Friday and Saturday: 9 AM-12:15 PM

As when the local school closes due to inclement weather, the library does as well. We will not be open Monday January 26, 2026. Please be safe as there is ice under the snow.

New Years Eve Day the library will be open one half hour earlier at 9:00 a.m and we will not close until 4:00 pm.

We are Closed on New Years Day.

Today’s the day of our Marshmallow Olympics at the FE Free Library!

Join us from 11a.m- 1 p.m. for some fun at the library. A big thanks to Deb Cahill with Main Street Marshmallows from Hudson Falls for providing the marshmallows! 🥰

Activities include the Tallest Marshmallow Challenge, Snowman Poppers, Snowman Bounce Paddle Ball & an Acting Extravaganza during lunch⛄️❄️ *Bring A sandwich for your lunch. The library will provide drinks, chips, and delicious cupcakes for dessert.

This FREE program is for Children ages 4-10. Call 518-747-6743 to register.
