The members of the Fort Edward Rescue Squad would like to extend our congratulations to Chief Connor Smith on graduating from Anna Maria College with his Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Management.

Over the last 3 1/2 years, Connor has remained a fully active volunteer and dedicated operations officer while balancing the demands of college and leadership within our agency. Throughout his final year of school, he also served as our Chief Operations Officer, continuing to lead from the front while maintaining his commitment to the residents we serve and the members of this organization.

Connor’s dedication, leadership, and work ethic reflect the values of the Fort Edward Rescue Squad and the future of emergency services. His achievement is a testament to countless hours of hard work, sacrifice, and commitment to both his education and his community.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Connor Smith on this outstanding accomplishment. We are proud to have him leading our organization and look forward to seeing all he continues to achieve.

Happy National Public Safety Telecommunications Week!

April 12th - 18th, 2026

Every year, during the second week of April, we show and express our appreciation and love for public safety telecommunicators around the country. These dedicated and trained people work 24/7, 365 days a year for our communities, hearing someone's worst day. They are the calm voice you hear on the phone, the radio, or the scanner. They are the backbone for lifesaving.

• BEFORE the police officer gets the call, someone is already calming down a frightened person.

• BEFORE the firefighter put on the helmet and gear, someone was already finding people in a burning building.

• BEFORE the paramedic got in the ambulance, someone was already giving CPR instructions.

In those critical situations, public safety communications are the bridge between "first there" and "first aware".

Thank you to all the 911 dispatchers, from the Fort Edward Rescue Squad!
