TRANSMARINER 26: The First Mile of American Power Projection 🚢🪖
📍 PONCE, PUERTO RICO – May 20, 2026
✍️ Story by Christopher Parr, U.S. Army Transportation Command
The vibration starts in the soles of the boots before it reaches the ears—a deep, rhythmic thrum from the MV Roy Benavidez, echoing off the concrete pier at the Port of Ponce. Here, there are no colorful stacks of commercial shipping containers—just the focused, rhythmic movement of Army Reserve Soldiers and the utilitarian expanse of olive drab and desert tan equipment, ready for on-load.
This is the "First Mile" of American power projection, where logistics theory meets industrial reality. For the Soldiers of the U.S. Army Transportation Command’s (ARTRANS) Reserve force, TRANSMARINER 26 is more than an exercise—it’s a masterclass in complexity and autonomy.
Designed to give the 1395th Deployment Distribution Surface Battalion (DDSB) and the 1394th Transportation Surface Brigade total autonomy, TRANSMARINER 26 trains these units to serve as Single Port Managers. Their mission: control a strategic seaport and transform it into a high-velocity gateway for combat power. ⚡️

OPSEC Awareness Month: AI & Mission Assurance 🛡️🤖
Here at the 597th Transportation Brigade, ARTRANS , and across the U.S. Army, AI is transforming how our military gathers intelligence, makes decisions, secures networks, and sustains operations—even in the world’s most contested environments. From logistics platforms to communications infrastructure, AI is being deployed at the edge—right where it’s needed most! 🚀🌍
But with great power comes great responsibility! As we celebrate OPSEC Awareness Month, your ever-vigilant Security Team wants to remind you:
Protect mission data by using only DoW-approved AI platforms like GENAI.mil!
Key OPSEC Tips for AI:
🖥️ Only process mission data and CUI on authorized, IL5-compliant platforms (GENAI.mil).
🚫 Never input CUI, PII, or operational details into public AI generators (ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.).
🔍 Always fact-check AI-generated content before official use or distribution.
Let’s keep our mission safe and secure—together!
If you’re ever unsure, reach out to your Security Team. We’re always here to help!
Remember: Sensitive info should never find its way into an unapproved AI prompt. 🕵️‍♂️

Pitch and Catch: Surface Warriors Perfect the Art of Rapid Logistics ⚓🚚
📍 GULFPORT, Miss.
In military logistics, success is all about the seamless handoff. At the Port of Gulfport, the U.S. Army and its Joint Force partners are putting that principle into action with the “pitch and catch” mechanics of Turbo Distribution—a high-stakes U.S. Transportation Command (TRANSCOM) multi-service exercise.
Turbo Distribution is designed to showcase the nation’s ability to rapidly establish a Joint Task Force-Port Opening (JTF-PO) and move massive amounts of military equipment from ship to shore—and onward—without missing a beat. 🏗️🌊
Surface warriors are perfecting the art of rapid logistics, ensuring that every piece of equipment gets where it needs to go, when it needs to be there. This is teamwork, precision, and readiness in action!
