Heat Safety PSA:
For You and Your Dog
If you’re working or spending time outside during a heat wave, stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take frequent breaks in the shade. For your dog, avoid hot pavement, provide plenty of water, and limit activity to early mornings or late evenings. Heatstroke can affect both humans and animals stay alert, stay cool, and stay safe.
🐶 Quick Heat Check for Dogs:
•Heavy Panting: Faster, louder, or more intense than usual? Red flag.
•Lethargy: Is your dog unusually tired, weak, or not responding like normal?
•Drooling: Thick, excessive drool can be a sign of overheating.
•Gums & Tongue: Bright red, dark red, or even pale/gray gums? That’s not normal—get help.
•Vomiting or Diarrhea: Especially if it’s sudden or paired with weakness.
•Unsteady Walking or Collapse: This could mean heatstroke act fast.
If you see any of these, move your dog to a cool area, offer small sips of water, and wet their paws or belly with cool (not icy) water. Then contact a vet immediately—heatstroke moves fast.
