The 1st Recruiting Brigade welcomed COL Sapriya McLendon as its new Brigade Commander during a Change of Command ceremony on July 21, 2026, at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. COL McLendon assumed command from COL Patrick A. Douglas.

The ceremony honored COL Douglas's outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the brigade's recruiting mission while celebrating the Army's tradition of leadership transition. Soldiers, civilians, family members, and distinguished guests gathered to bid farewell to COL Douglas and welcome COL McLendon as she begins leading the brigade into its next chapter.

On July 20, 2026, a dinner was held at Club Meade in honor of COL Patrick A. Douglas to recognize and celebrate his outstanding leadership and dedicated service as Commander of the 1st Recruiting Brigade. The event was well attended by senior military leaders, Soldiers, civilian teammates, family members, and distinguished guests, all of whom gathered to express their appreciation for his unwavering commitment to the brigade and the U.S. Army.

The U.S. Army 1st Recruiting Brigade was honored to welcome MG He Yeal Jang, Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel (G-1), Republic of Korea Army Headquarters, during an official visit to brigade headquarters.

The visit highlighted the enduring alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea while providing an opportunity to exchange ideas on recruiting, talent management, and leader development. Brigade leadership shared insights into the U.S. Army Recruiting mission and discussed ways both Armies continue to strengthen their personnel systems to meet future challenges.

Together, we remain committed to building strong partnerships, developing exceptional Soldiers, and reinforcing the alliance that has stood strong for decades.
