Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders, Today

This week, our team from the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade had the incredible opportunity to visit the Bell plant and headquarters in the greater Dallas–Fort Worth area. The visit offered a firsthand look at the MV‑75 production line, upcoming fielding plans, and the innovative technologies shaping Army Aviation’s future.

From understanding the competitive landscape for FLRAA and Flight School Next, to exploring enhanced digital maintenance practices, to discussing the operational impact of tilt‑rotor aircraft in LSCO environments—every conversation reinforced a simple truth:

In a world defined by rapid change, the only constant is how we choose to lead through it.

The MV‑75 represents more than a new aircraft. It represents a shift in how we train, fight, maintain, and think. As organizations and doctrine evolve, so must our leaders.

At 1ACB, we remain committed to developing leaders who can thrive in complexity—leaders who embrace innovation, adapt with purpose, and are ready to meet the demands of tomorrow’s battlefield.

Proud of this team and energized for what lies ahead.

Special thanks to the Bell Team for their hospitality and genuine care for our Nation and those who defend it - thank you

AIR CAV HOSTS INACTIVATION CEREMONY FOR 7-17 ACS AND 2-227 AVN!

The 1st Air Cavalry Brigade hosted the inactivation ceremony for 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, and 2nd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment on Fort Hood, Texas, Dec. 16, 2025. An Army inactivation ceremony is a formal military event marking the official end of a unit's existence, symbolizing its history, accomplishments, and transition as its colors (flag) are "cased" (put away), often due to Army restructuring, modernization (like Multi-Domain Operations), or evolving missions. However, the unit's legacy continues, and personnel are reassigned.

The 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment (7-17 ACS), nicknamed the "Palehorses", boasts a storied history, especially during the Vietnam War as an air cavalry unit providing reconnaissance and combat support, earning numerous honors, then serving in the Global War on Terror, and continuing to deploy globally with the 1st Cavalry Division.

The 2nd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, known as the "Lobos," has a distinguished history with the 1st Cavalry Division serving with distinction in Vietnam and evolving through decades to provide vital aviation support for the 1st Cavalry Division, deploying globally for combat and disaster relief (Balkans, Iraq, Hurricane Katrina/Rita) flying Black Hawks and Chinooks, embodying the Air Cavalry spirit.

AIR CAV AND OPERATION HOMEFRONT!

Air Cav partnered with Chief Warrant Officer 4(Retired) Jay Helm and Operation Homefront for a toy drive held in Killeen, Texas, Nov. 7- Dec. 5, 2025. Jay Helm volunteers with the organization, Operation Homefront, as every year, he drops off a toy drive drop box at the Killeen Dollar Tree. As customers shop, they can purchase toys and drop them in the Operation Homefront drop box. Every week during the toy drive timeline, Helm would empty the box and bring them to Air Cav Headquarters to be gifted to soldiers for their dependents. AIR CAV!
