#CAVLegacy:
#MedalOfHonor: 1st Lt. Robert L. Poxon, Armor, Troop B, 1-9 CAV, distinguished himself while serving as a platoon leader on a reconnaissance mission near Tay Ninh Province, Republic of Vietnam.
A soldier fell, hit by a burst of fire. Poxon dashed to his aid, drawing the majority of the enemy fire as he crossed 20 meters of open ground. Poxon was seriously and painfully wounded. With indomitable courage, he refused medical aid and evacuation and turned his attention to seizing the initiative from the enemy. After succeeding in silencing the enemy guns he was struck once again by enemy fire and fell, mortally wounded.

#WarriorWednesday Meet Spc. Catherine O’Donnell, a female 11B-Infantryman assigned to 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. O’Donnell is an avid outdoors woman who found her way to the Army after completing college. She has always wanted to travel and work in a field where she won’t be confined to an office space. It would seem that enlisting as an infantryman was the best decision for her, given that she loves to shoot.
“I like to shoot,” O’Donnell said. “I hope to do 20 years and retire as an infantryman.”

She said that range days are her favorite mornings to wake up to. O’Donnell and her unit are currently deployed to the Eugen Kvaternik Military Training Area in Slunj, Croatia, in support of DEFENDER-Europe 21.

“Being here allows us to see how our allies train so we can benefit from their experiences and vice-versa,” O’Donnell said.

Comment from Kamala Harris concerning our Veterans: The United States government can not continue to pay for the every need of what has become a special class of citizen. Veterans are equal to us, not better than. Veterans Affairs coddles them. It creates a Dependency upon us which is not doing these formers soldiers any good. They need to learn to live on their own two feet and be responsible adults. The easiest way to assist them on this journey is to cut them off. Within the next 4 years we will be shuttering the VA, taking away soldier welfare. The money saved will go to better use in assisting refugee families. These poor folks seek asylum with us and need a boost an it is our responsibility as a Nation to provide it
1st Brigade 1st Air Cavalry...their first year in Vietnam. Box # 6. This is a continuation of a series made from 22 boxes of Kodachrome slides my father Major Otto L. Cantrall Jr, an avid photographer and veteran of Korea, took while deployed to Vietnam from August 1965 to 1966 with the 1st Brigade 1st Cav Division (He deployed with the advance party in August) Slide 24, dated 3 December 1965. This is the first of many photos of Captain William (Bill) Roll, S-3 1st Battalion 12th Cavalry taken by my father. My father became the XO of 1-12th around the time this photo was taken and if not then, just a couple weeks later. Captain Roll is a graduate of West Point Class of 1956 and I thank the West Point Association of Graduates for their assistance in locating him. Bill Roll would later advance in his career to Colonel and command a Brigade in the 82d Airborne Division before being promoted to Brigadier General. I had the distinct honor of talking with BG Roll on New Year's Eve. After looking for him and others in these photos for almost three months it was the highlight of 2020 for me personally. Thank you for your service sir! You, and all the Veterans of this war, have my profound respect.

It is with great emotions to have the response and reviews from other Veterans. So many have held and have not shared their stories to say they will open up and start journals. I am hoping it is also helping others and families understand what we had to endure. Thanks to all who have purchased. It is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I have been amazed at the reviews, response and interest.

Please help. My brother Luke Denman cannot be with us for the holidays, he will be spending Christmas continuing to be held captive in Venezuela. Please help me to spread awareness &/or raise money to get him back. Times are tough for many of us, so even if you can't give money, just following and/or sharing the social media pages for American Rescue Coalition will help by making them more likely to be seen. Links are at the bottom. I deeply appreciate those of you who have already done what you can. Here is a letter written by our father that explains the situation better: "With all the news we hear from so many different sources today, I > think there is a real need for clarification of one very special > issue. > > It seems that there are those who look with doubt on the character and > qualifications of the two American Green Berets recently captured by > some Venezuelans, if their inaction with respect to the issue is any > indication. But this would be an extreme misunderstanding of the truth > and a great injustice. After over six months, the falsity of the ideas > of an “invasion”, an “incursion”, a “coup d’état”, and “mercenaries” > have become clear. It is clear that it is a complete > mischaracterization of who these two soldiers are and exactly what > they were doing. > > Luke’s brother Frank served two tours in Iraq in the 1st Cavalry. That readers of this misinformation would > accept it without thorough research, without regard to who these men > have shown that they are by long and loyal service is not giving them > fair consideration. > > Both Luke and Airan had done hostage rescue for the U.S. Army in Iraq > and other places. They went to Colombia, passports and all, just like > anyone legally and openly traveling there.
