In Pennsylvania Wing, we have so many exceptional volunteers.
Every once in a while, one of those members rises above and gets recognized as one of the best!

Captain Robert Williams of our Wing Legal Team is one of those.
Besides doing all the great things he does with Civil Air Patrol, he has been listed as one of the TOP 100 2026 PENNSYLVANIA SUPER LAWYERS.

Here's the online version of the magazine naming him: https://www.superlawyers.com/articles/pennsylvania/wingman/
This is a must-read!

We are honored to have him as a valuable asset for the Wing!

Last week, Pennsylvania Wing was invited to assist with the Sentimental Journey Fly-In, held at the William T. Piper Memorial Airport in Lock Haven, PA.

We were tasked with car parking, helping at the public registration table, and aircraft marshalling!

Sunday started the week with Flightline Marshalling training and a refresher with 12 cadets and senior members. Special training was called out for the number of tail-dragger aircraft involved, with around 80-100 aircraft planned to transition during the airshow. All aircraft movements were under the supervision of a senior member with the Cadets.

We had one of our own planes on display and an informational and command tent on display.

It is worth noting that William T. Piper was a CAP squadron commander of the Penn Squadron #41 back in 1944 at this same airfield, and we have a squadron (Piper Composite PA-065) being hosted by the Piper Museum here at this location.

We are proud to be a part of this historic Fly-in!

Another successful World War II event at the Reading Airport which marks Pennsylvania Wing's 35th year involved!

This large event includes reenactments, planes, and vehicles that illustrate history, while simultaneously running an air show everyday. Our members began their mission Thursday night and ended Sunday evening. Specifically, our members take on the duties of directing vehicles for parking and managing flightline crowds as aircraft transitioned and moved throughout the show. These responsibilities require many hands and great team work which was made possible by the participation of so many different squadrons.

This year, 2 regions (NER and MAR) were represented by Pennsylvania Wing (Groups 1, 2, 3, and 4) and West Virginia Wing, with a total of 14 Squadrons providing members for each of the 4 days.
Thursday: 62 members
Friday: 106 members
Saturday: 157 members
Sunday: 113 members

Running smoothly and effectively, the Reading Composite Squadron Headquarters took on the role of Command center for this mission. Within the HQ, general Operations, Planning, Briefing, Staging, and Communications were carried out. Additionally, behind the HQ, tents were set up for numerous Cadets and Senior Members to camp overnight throughout the the entire weekend. Lastly, a staffed display was set up in the show as a Civil Air Patrol informational center for the purposes of public recruiting and education.

Thank you to everyone who participated and put in the hard work to ensure the success of this event and mission! We are already looking forward to next year.

As we pause to remember our fallen heroes on Memorial Day, Pennsylvania Wing wishes to extend our deepest condolences to our present and past members that are Gold Star families.
Memorial Day serves as a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom. It's a day to honor the fallen and recommit ourselves to the ideals they fought for. By remembering their sacrifice, we ensure that their courage and dedication live on in our hearts and minds.

A little rain doesn't stop this important work!

On Saturday, 23 May 2026, nine members of the Gettysburg Composite Squadron, along with a parent volunteer, supported the National Park Service in placing more than 6,000 flags on veterans' graves at the Gettysburg National Cemetery ahead of Memorial Day. The squadron worked alongside other volunteer groups, including the Boy Scouts of America and the Young Marines, as well as individuals who had traveled from as far as Ohio to take part.

From Highland Cemetery, Lock Haven, PA. Staff:

Piper Composite Squadron (PA-065) volunteers their time to replace veterans' flags in sections B, D, E, and F. What a fast, hard-working group of fine youth to honor those who paved the road to what we experience today! AND thank you for your willingness to return next year.
