A moisture laden Pacific storm will move across Southern California Monday bringing cold weather and rain. Cooler temperatures and wet weather increase the potential for cold weather injuries. Each year, across the Army between 200 and 500 cases of cold weather injuries are treated. The 2022 Health of the Force report estimated that Service Members with a cold weather injury will experience 5 days of lost duty time to recover. Cold injuries can be serious or life-threatening due to environmental exposure. They include hypothermia, chilblains, trench foot, frostnip, and frostbite. Commanders and leaders will ensure all personnel are educated about the prevention recognition and treatment of cold weather injuries.
