That’s a Wrap!!! National Training Center/Fort Irwin Rotation 26-08 concluded on June 19, 2026.

Over the past week the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division conducted defensive, breaching and sustainment operations; and attacked to seize objectives.

Rotations at the National Training Center ensures that the U.S. Army remains versatile, responsive, and consistently available for current and future contingencies.

Between June 13 and June 15, 2026, the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division continued Force-on-Force training operations at the National Training Center/Fort Irwin during Rotation 26-08. They convoyed through the training area, conducted vehicle maintenance, reconnaissance, and radar operations, attacked to seize an objective; and established a hasty defense. They have now moved into live fire operations.

Force on Force (FoF) training in the Army is a critical method for simulating combat scenarios, enhancing soldier readiness, and adapting to modern warfare challenges.

Tim Matrin, 3rd Battery, 16th Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division Artillery, to discuss how Rotation 26-02 differed from a typical NTC Rotation. They talk about Transformation in Contact, the rapid changes to the Battalion, launch effects platoons, importance of drone capabilities, sustainment, and training the fundamentals at home station. Lt. Col Martin closes with some of his personal advice and to leaders coming to the NTC.

Rotation 26-08 continues at the National Training Center/Fort Irwin as the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division conducted resupply, attacks on an objective, HIMARS transport, and defensive preparations and operations; pulled security; and performed simulated medical evacuations.

The Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO) training objectives are established to challenge and enhance readiness of an Armored Brigade Combat Team, preparing them to win the first fight of the next war.

In this episode of Operations Group TAC Talks, Lt. Col. Eric Shockley, Senior Tactical Sustainment Trainer, talks about A Way to conduct a Brigade level Sustainment Rehearsal and how it is relevant to similar rehearsals from the Battalion level and up to the Division level. Rotation 26-08 is Transforming in Contact (TiC). Transforming in Contact aims to maintain the U.S. Army's overmatch against any adversary by allowing it to evolve and improve faster than the enemy.

Between June 6 and June 8, 2026 the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division conducted equipment validation lanes, mission essential task training, reconnaissance and decontamination operations; executed military decision making processes and troop leading procedures; reacted to forms of contact, limited objectives; and began Movement to Contact to seize objectives during training at the National Training Center/Fort Irwin.

Rotation 26-08

During the Reception Staging Onward Integration week of Rotation 26-08 the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division prepared to face off with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment-Blackhorse at the National Training Center/Fort Irwin. They built combat power; conducted preventative maintenance checks; executed rehearsals and calibration operations; and began movement to the Tactical Assembly Areas and Brigade Support Area.
