NTC Rotation 26-08 concluded with 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division completing a demanding training cycle at the National Training Center. Throughout the rotation, Soldiers were challenged by a realistic and adaptive operational environment designed to test leadership, decision-making, and combat effectiveness across all warfighting functions.

As the Army’s premier opposing force, the Blackhorse Regiment delivered a dynamic training experience that strengthened readiness, refined battlefield skills, and enhanced the ability of units to operate in large-scale combat operations. The rotation provided valuable opportunities for Soldiers and leaders alike to build confidence, increase lethality, and prepare for future missions.

The Blackhorse Regiment remains committed to developing capable, disciplined, and combat-ready formations while continuing to provide world-class training in support of the Army’s readiness mission.

Ironhorse Squadron conducted an Assumption of Command and Change of Responsibility ceremony on June 18.

During the ceremony, LTC Dean G. Marshall assumed command of the squadron. The event also marked the transfer of responsibility from CSM Sergio Estrella Jr. to CSM William J. Griffith Jr., symbolizing the continuity of leadership, stewardship, and commitment to Soldiers across the formation.

SGT Furgerson earned Trooper of the Week through his service as a Team Leader during the Team Live-Fire Proficiency Gate. He successfully integrated three new Soldiers into his team and completed both day and night live-fire exercises. The command and control he displayed were exceptional, and he performed his duties above the standard. His ability to adapt during high-stress situations and train new Soldiers within a one-week timeframe is a testament to his performance, leadership, and dedication to mission success.

The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment gathered to recognize a significant milestone as command was formally transferred to a new leadership team. Soldiers, families, and community members gathered to recognize the service of the outgoing Regimental Commander, Colonel Kevin T. Black, and welcome the next chapter for the unit through the incoming Regimental Commander, Colonel Brennan M. Speakes

The event served as an opportunity to recognize Colonel Black for all his service and dedication to the Regiment. Throughout his tenure, Blackhorse maintained a steadfast commitment to mission accomplishment, unit cohesion, and operational excellence. The Regiment extends its gratitude to Colonel Black and his family for their leadership, sacrifice, and support.

As Colonel Speakes assumes command, the Blackhorse Regiment remains focused on building readiness, strengthening standards, and maintaining battlefield lethality.
