We are through the moon at receiving a generous grant from the Pilcrow Foundation through the Children's Book Project! Rural Libraries matter and when funding is tight it's foundations like our friends of the libraries groups, the Fort Jones Lions Club, and the Pilcrow Foundation that step in and keep the flame of literacy alive and well in our communities. We are humbled and grateful for this amazing gift. THANK YOU!

If you haven't come yet, you should!
This month our group landed on "Remarkably Bright Creatures", by Shelby Van Pelt.
If you have read this book already or would like to, we have a schedule change and will be meeting Tuesday June 16th @ 6 pm instead of our usual day due to conflicting community events.
Come talk about what you liked, loved, or disliked about this novel before you watch the movie, meet some new faces and enjoy some time in our beautiful library.
We can't wait to see you there!

What's the big deal about Open Book Club?
1. You get to pick your own book
2.Super laid back atmosphere. There are no assignments
3. Enjoy great company and great books!

This month's book picks and a few words from the readers.

KA by John Crowley
" A book from the viewpoint of a crow over 20000 years- crazy and impactful."

The Sunbirds Last Lament by Andrea Costello
" YA fantasy read, plants, magic, dragons. A Romeo and Juliette - fated lovers trope. It was OK, not really my jam but decent"

Circe by Madeline Miller
" It was good to read it with someone else, it took to about Chapter 5 but I liked the viewpoint of Circe."

King Sorrow by Joe Hill
" I wouldn't recommend it because I liked his other books better. Really I wanted the main characters to get it in the end."

Year One by Nora Roberts
" It’s the best book ever. Not like her others, I've read it multiple times in every form and I have it on my shelf."

The Cautious Travelers Guide to the Wastelands by Sarah Brooks
" It a book about not being afraid of what we dont know and of change. It was a beautiful book just slow at times but worth a read.

Side discussions revealed that the Sookie Stackhouse series is smut-tastic and highly recommended for a good beach read.
'Wuthering Heights' still gets bad reviews from the box office (our book club members) and literary commentary rated as the worst characters ever. James Bond novels are great popcorn reads and Fairytail by Steven King and the Talisman are both great books.

Apologies to our fellow book club members if we did not quote exactly or the entirety of your book review.
