One of the final exercises during takes cadets into the wilderness. The Field Training Exercise, or FTX for all our acronym lovers out there, is broken up into three phases. Each phase requires the cadet-led platoons to navigate a variety of simulated combat scenarios while putting everything they have learned to the test.

With each phase requiring more independence from Cadre, cadets will learn to crawl, walk, and run through the Kentucky woods this summer.

After completing the final field training exercise, cadets embark on a 12-mile foot march back to the barracks where they started camp. This final journey marks the challenging, yet rewarding conclusion of their time and development in the field.

This summer, 2️⃣Regiments of cadets will join for .

This 30-day training is designed to introduced Lateral Entry Cadets and freshman cadets to the U.S. Army and develop their leadership skills, train them on individual and junior leader tasks, develop and reinforce the Warrior Ethos and Army Values.

Basic Camp allows cadets to gain squad leader experience and conduct troop leading procedures to plan and execute tactical missions at the squad level.

📅Basic Camp cadets arrive June 28th.

There's only 9️⃣ sleeps until officially kicks off!

During , cadets attending will develop their Warrior Skills, helping to build essential foundational skills they need in order to be effective leaders both during CST and as officers.

Troop-leading procedures, setting up claymore mines, hand signals, how to camouflage themselves, and throwing hand grenades are some of the critical skills they develop. Warrior Skills encourages cadets to work on their individual skill sets while observer-controller-trainers assess cadets to ensure they're prepared for each of the three field training exercise phases required for CST.

🎵Here I go again on my own, going down the only road I've ever known 🎵

We're another day closer to !

During , cadets undergo training in land navigation to develop and assess their basic dismounted navigation skills. Cadets need to be able to move safely and accurately over unfamiliar terrain using only a map, compass, and their own skills – without relying on any electronic aids.

Cadets demonstrate their skills during both day ☀️and night🌙 conditions in varied terrain. During CST, cadets are also taught advanced land navigation skills and other tasks like mounted land navigation, range estimation, terrain analysis, and call for fire.

Land navigation is a core Soldier competency that builds confidence, situational awareness, and independence.

We're not crying, we just have a little CS gas in our eye.

is quickly approaching!

During , cadets undergo Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear training – also known as CBRN. During the training, cadets learn how to quickly dress in their Mission Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) gear in the event of a CBRN attack.

For the training's highlight, cadets experience the Confidence Chamber, where they learn to trust in the effectiveness of their protective masks when faced with CBRN elements like the tear gas used within the chamber.

Since the beginning of May, thousands of cadets have taken the Oath of Commissioned Officers and pledged to lead our nation's Soldiers.

U.S. Army Cadet Command is the largest commissioning source for the Army, producing around 70% of all Army officers for the active Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve.

The competition has ended, and the victors of have been announced.

Today 48 teams met on the final battlefield at the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition to push through exhaustion, pain, and conflict to prove their toughness and cross that finish line.

Congratulations to Texas A&M University for winning the cup ✨AND✨placing third overall in the competition. This is the second year in a row an Army ROTC team has placed in the top three.

We'd also like to recognize Cadet Nathan Kim from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities who was awarded the Tom Surdyke Leadership Award for best squad leader. The Tom Surdyke Leadership Award is a coveted Sandhurst award presented to the best squad leader out of the 48 teams competing at Sandhurst.

We are incredibly proud of all our 16 teams for their hard work, dedication, and .
