In 1975 an Army Inspector General found that the two administrative Supply Technician schools located in Columbus, Ohio and Fort McCoy, Wisconsin were teaching different courses of instruction. These schools were aligned under the Civilian Personnel Office at their respective locations. In 1976 FORSCOM (Forces Command) decided to combine the two schools together and formed the Army Reserve Technic

ian Training Center (ARTTC). Fort McCoy was chosen to be the site for the new ARRTC due to its central location in the United States. The school had a completely civilian staff until 1981. At that time a new program was instituted by the Army called the Active Guard/Reserve (AGR) program. AGR Soldiers were then assigned to the ARTTC. In 1982 ARTTC becomes the Army Reserve Readiness Training Center (ARRTC) and also becomes a tenant activity of Fort McCoy. Don Smith becomes first full-time, permanent military commandant of the school. The ARRTC was designed to specifically train Army Reserve personnel and it consisted of six training centers. Each of the training centers had its own specialization: Mobilization and Movement; Training and Operations; Human Resource Management; Logistics and Engineering; Security, Resource and Information Management; and Retention and Entry Training. In 1992 a new administrative, classroom and dining facility is built and occupied. ARRTC launched its distributive learning program in 1997. 2000 saw the ARRTC dormitory, building 51, opened. This project connects the new dormitory to administrative and classroom facility. The ARRTC celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2001. By 2005, the curriculum had expanded to teach not only Army Active, Reserve and Army National Guard Soldiers and civilians, but also Department of Defense Civilians along with members of the Active and Reserve Components for the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. During the 2004 Base Realignment and Closure Commission, the ARRTC was identified to relocate from FT McCoy to FT Knox. In May 2005, the unit was consolidated with the 84th Division (Institutional Training) and redesignated as the 84th United States Army Reserve Readiness Training Center (USARRTC) with headquarters split between Fort McCoy and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On October 1st, 2009, the United States Army Reserve Command remissioned the 84th Training Command from Leader Readiness to Unit Readiness. In doing so, the ARRTC (Provisional) was reformed from elements of the 84th Training Command (Unit Readiness). On 17 December 2009, the Chief of the Army Reserve re-designated the 4-339th Regiment as the ARRTC (Prov) and named COL Robert Felland as the Commandant. One year later, the ARRTC was placed as a direct reporting to USARC with staff oversight from the Deputy Chief of Staff, G 3/5/7. The assumption of command of COL Aaron Walter signifies the completion of the ARRTC transition from provisional status. In accordance with BRAC law, the ARRTC will start moving to FT Knox, KY in November 2010 and will complete the move no later than September 15, 2011.

Iron Sharpens Iron: Leadership, Development, and Recognition at Fort Knox.

Professional development is the bedrock of our Army’s future. On Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, the Fort Knox Warrant Officer Association "Derby" Chapter hosted a high-impact Leadership Professional Development (LPD) session.

The class, led by Chief Warrant Officer 5 Tuchtenhagen, Senior Advisor to the Adjutant General, focused on critical career progression topics including promotions, the Master Board File (MBF), ASBS, board certification reports, and the PRR.

After the event, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Penny presented a coin of excellence to Sgt. 1st Class Bess. Although not assigned to their specific unit, Bess was recognized for stepping up to serve as the UPAR for the Chapter's LPD, promotion ceremonies, and the recent USARARGC military ball.

Sgt. 1st Class Bess reflected on the recognition and the mission:

"I have received a lot of coins since coming to this duty station from amazing leaders that I aspire to be like, but this one right here has to be the best-looking coin I have ever seen. It is very rare to see a Chief Warrant Officer 5 'roaming around in the wild' (inside joke), let alone receive a coin from one.

Leaders like Chief Warrant Officer 5 Penny and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Robles strengthen my belief that the Warrant Officer Cohort is stronger than it has ever been. I also want to give a shoutout to the Warrants that I talk to periodically on Teams calls for hours about how we can make things better for Soldiers coming up in the ranks and the Army as a whole (Chief Warrant Officer 4 Darr, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andress, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Ivers, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Lyles, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Donovan)

Lastly, I can’t forget about the 'Premier Schoolhouse of the Army Reserve.' Since taking on this additional duty four months ago, it has definitely been a wild ride.

Thank you for allowing me to stick a camera in your face and take pictures constantly. The car rides to Louisville to show up for a race at 6 am in the morning or a Jiu-Jitsu tournament were all worth it because I had the opportunity to tell your story and give the people in this organization their 'flowers' for all the amazing things you do on a daily basis.

Thank you to the command staff ,Lt. Col. Garcia, Sgt. Maj. Martin, Mr. Scholls, 1st Sgt. Cruz, and Capt. King for unapologetically pouring positivity into all the instructors under the 83rd footprint. Because of that, I can say we have the best instructors the Army has ever seen. This group of people under one roof is an anomaly; please enjoy it while you are here."

Always remember and make sure you remind the person to your left and right:

The Wolf Pack Celebrates the Season with Art, Food, and Family! 🐺🎨🍗

The Sustainment Directorate came together this week for a “Secret Santa” Gift Exchange and Potluck that truly embodied the spirit of our team! While the spread was incredible featuring wings, catered barbecue, deviled eggs, banana pudding, and delicious cookies the real highlight of the event was a heartwarming display of dedication and artistry.

A special salute goes to Anna, the 82-year-old mother of Chief Warrant Officer 4 Rideaux. Anna spent the last two months working day and night to hand-craft custom diamond resin paintings for the team. She created a stunning piece around the "Wolf Pack" (team mascot). She created individual diamond art pieces based on each instructor’s unique personality and teaching style.

Looking at the intricate detail in these thousands of tiny resin diamonds, it is hard to believe she is 82-year-old !!! Her hard work and thoughtfulness left us all in awe.

The generosity didn’t stop there. CW4 Rideaux presented gifts for all the instructors to take home to their significant others, and Staff Sgt. Allen displayed incredible compassion by presenting gifts to every member of the Sustainment Directorate.

Moments like these remind us that we are stronger together not just as Soldiers, but as a family.

Weekend Readiness: Soldiers Crush Miles in Louisville

Congratulations to our teammates who dedicated their weekend to fitness and camaraderie at the Louisville Hot Chocolate Run!

Master Sgt. Franklin completed the 15K, and Staff Sgt. Barr finished the 10K, demonstrating that readiness doesn't stop when the duty day ends. We also want to send a special shout-out to Sgt. Maj. Perez, a former member of our unit who joined the team to crush the 10K.

Leading from the front! 🥋
The 100th Training Division command team, led by Brig. Gen. Martin C. Jung and Command Sgt. Maj. Christian G. Davis, set the pace this weekend at the Fort Knox Fight Club. They hosted a dynamic hybrid Combatives PT session integrating tactical combat and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
This rigorous training honed the practical application of Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP) movements. Mastering these close combat skills is essential for warfighter lethality and reflects our dedication to physical readiness.
A huge shoutout to the instructors for a dynamic and engaging session:

Respect, Discipline, and Lethality: Fort Knox Warriors Dominate on the Mat

For Sgt. 1st Class Mathew Colon, the 83rd USARRTC Combatives Program Director, the fight is about more than just physical technique—it is a test of spirit. Grounded in faith and focused on the Warrior Ethos, SFC Colon instills a culture where respect is paramount.

The tradition of bowing to an opponent before entering and exiting the mat is not just a formality; it represents the discipline required to engage in controlled aggression. This mindset directly supports the Warfighter, translating the chaos of hand-to-hand combat into focused lethality and composure under pressure.

Last Saturday, Soldiers and Civilians from across the Fort Knox community put this training to the test at the Fuji Jiu-Jitsu Championship at the Louisville Expo Center. Their performance demonstrated that physical and spiritual readiness go hand-in-hand.

Congratulations to our competitors on their outstanding results:

🥋 SFC Mathew Colon (83rd USARRTC)
• Gold (Gi)
• Bronze (No-Gi)
• Record: 3-2

🥋 Erin Wade (HRC)
• Gold (Gi): 2-1
• Silver (No-Gi): 1-1

🥋 Taylor Elliott (HRC Civilian)
• Gold (Gi): 2-0

🥋 Keighron Horne (DENTAC)

• Hard-fought performance finishing 2-2
These Warriors exemplify the drive to win and the humility to respect the fight.

Welcoming New Leadership to the 83rd U.S. Army Reserve Readiness Training Center!

A proud moment for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) as we gathered on Dec. 11, 2025, to conduct a Change of Command ceremony. We extend our sincere gratitude to Maj. Jacobsen for his steadfast leadership and dedication to the Soldiers of the HHC during his tenure. We wish you the best in your next assignment!

We are excited to welcome our new Commander, Capt. Jassmine King!

The strength of our Soldiers comes from the strength of their Families, and that support was on full display. Capt. King was cheered on by three full rows of guests, including her son, Legend, and her sister, marking this special occasion with the people who matter most.

A native of Wilson, North Carolina, Capt. King brings a wealth of experience and a distinctive prior-enlisted perspective to the command. She began her career in 2012 as a motor transporter in the North Carolina National Guard before commissioning in 2017 through the Early Commissioning Program at Georgia Military College.

Capt. King is a true example of the scholar-warrior. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Logistics Intermodal Transportation and just completed her Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Project Management this month. Her extensive military education includes the Logistics Captains Career Course, Joint Logistics Course, and Master Resilience Training.

She comes to us with a robust operational background, having served as a Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Plans Officer, and most recently as a Battalion S3 and S4 OIC. Her decorations include the Army Commendation Medal and the Noble Patron of Armor.

Please join us in welcoming Capt. King to the team!
