Broward County Resilience

Broward County Resilience Safeguarding lives, resources and property of Broward County with planning, management & protection.

A Division of the Broward County Public Works and Environmental Services Department (PWESD) Broward County Resilient Environment programs are focused on increasing community resiliency, and planning necessary adaptation measures to address the local impacts of sea level rise, crippling traffic, and severe economic inequities. By implementing these actions, Broward County moves forward on building

a greener, more sustainable, and climate-resilient community. Our aim is to build stronger communities and infrastructure; protect critical sectors of our industry, government and natural resources; and use sound science to better understand and address climate impacts. Our strategies include modeling vulnerabilities and analyzing risks, thoughtful planning, developing sound public policies, convening support through stakeholder involvement, and implementing projects and economic investments. To contact us, sign up for our e-newsletter, or learn how to become a Climate Ambassador, please email [email protected].

It's hot for your pets too!

Dogs need exercise, even when it's hot. Walking your dog in the morning or evening when it's cooler reduces the risk of heatstroke and burning their paws on the pavement. Ensure your pet stays cool during the hot summer months!

We're excited to announce this year's Climate Leadership Summit will kick off on Nov. 4 with Innovation Day, a day dedicated to celebrating boundary-pushing new technologies and empowering the next generation of resilience entrepreneurs.

The panels, "The Eyes and Ears of Tomorrow," "Thinking Beyond the Now," and "New Ways to Live, Work, and Move," will convene leading experts from academia, industry, and government for interdisciplinary conversations about what the future holds and how we can shape it.

In addition, we look forward to hosting the final rounds of the Collegiate and Emerging Companies Innovation Showcases, where university students and start-ups will present bold ideas for addressing some of the most pressing climate challenges facing our communities.
