We’ve been getting a few DM’s on what’s happening on 19th Street with all the crews working out there the last few days.

FYI they are replacing / updating the concrete posts on electrical grids. Not sewer related!

Another year has gone by and we hope it was a good one for everyone. PHCA is looking to make 2020 a great one for our community. Our goal will be to make our Civic Association more fun and easy to get more of our residents to participate! We are starting that by tuning in the website and social media to be more interactive for communication. We also added a couple of more meetings to the year to discuss our neighborhood events and concerns. Meetings will be 3rd Wednesday on all the EVEN numbered months of the year. We will be meeting at Bennett Elementary and will have plenty of room and seating for all our new and current members. One of our top priorities will be to apply for our next NCIP grant so we would love to get input on how we can use it to beautify the neighborhood. Be on the look out for more information on everything!

On behalf of the PHCA board, we wish everyone a Happy New Year and look forward to helping Poinsettia Heights be better than ever!

Alex Collazo, President of PHCA

CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE UPDATE ON WATER – JULY 20, 2019

Water service to Fort Lauderdale customers continues without interruption as the Fiveash water treatment plant continues to operate at near normal production levels.

A boil water notice remains in effect for all water customers until further notice. Please visit the City’s website at www.fortlauderdale.gov for a map of the affected service area.

Water distribution at the following City sites resumed this morning at 8 a.m. The sites will be open until 8 p.m. this evening and will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow, Sunday, July 21.

Beach Community Center
3351 NE 33rd Avenue
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308

Mills Pond Park
2201 NW 9th Avenue
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311

Riverland Park
950 SW 27th Avenue
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312

Thus far, the City estimates it has distributed approximately 5,000 cases of water.

The Fiveash water treatment plant continues to operate without interruption. The plant is currently operating above its daily production levels in order to replenish our water reserves. We expect to reach our target water reserve level this afternoon.

Crews continue to assess and exercise valves surrounding the location of the repaired pipe. Currently, all of the valves are operating properly. Work will continue on the valves in preparation for the permanent repair. It is estimated that early next week, work will begin on redirecting the flow of water so a contractor can replace the damaged pipe and complete the permanent repair. We do not anticipate any interruptions to water service while the permanent repair is being made.

Customers with questions may call the City of Fort Lauderdale 24-Hour Call Center at 954-828-8000.

The Riverwalk comes alive the first Sunday of each month for the free Sunday Jazz Brunch with talented local jazz ensembles on four stages. Bring beach blankets, picnic baskets, and good friends for a relaxing and memorable afternoon.

We have since been notified by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department the following concerning the investigation:

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department Detectives assigned to the case have fully investigated the incident and have concluded that there was not a home invasion or robbery. Details concerning the incident are being withheld to protect the privacy of those involved.

We would like to thank our fellow neighbors for bringing this issue to our attention.

Safe Routs To School Grant Application Update

The Safe Routs To School Program is a State Grant Program to provide neighborhood improvements in neighborhoods including sidewalks and crosswalks.

This project will have a direct impact on our neighborhood and will add improvements such as sidewalks and additional crosswalks at key locations in our neighborhood leading to Bennett Elementary and Sunrise Middle School.

The City of Fort Lauderdale Vision Zero Team is heading the grant application process and recently held a public meeting on January 8, 2019 at Bennett Elementary School to identify specific neighborhood needs under the program.

The Safe Routs To School program evaluation initially included Bennett Elementary under the application however; based on neighborhood input, the application is now being modified to include Sunrise Middle School. The Vision Zero team has delayed the grant application until the 2020 application cycle while an additional evaluation for Sunrise Middle School is conducted.

As more information becomes available we will be updating it on our website.

Great American Beach Party CANCELED due to inclement weather forecast

Post Date:May 25, 2018 12:59 PM
Great American Beach Party Canceled

Subtropical Storm Alberto expected to bring inclement weather

Fort Lauderdale – The City of Fort Lauderdale has canceled the Great American Beach Party, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 26 from 10 am - 8 pm. The event is being canceled due to the inclement weather forecasts associated with the Subtropical Storm Alberto, which formed earlier this morning off the coast of Mexico.

According to the National Weather Service, deteriorating weather conditions are expected for our area including periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, rip currents, lightning and possible flooding.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department reminds residents and visitors to limit travel along roadways during inclement weather and use caution while driving. Additionally, beachgoers are advised to take precautions due to the forecast of strong wind gusts, lightning and hazardous water conditions.

For weather updates and the latest information on Subtropical Storm Alberto, visit the National Weather Service webpage at https://www.nhc.noaa.gov.

Are any other neighbors recognizing that we are under an increasing pattern of flyovers for the passenger air traffic arriving and departing the airport? This pattern wasn't normal just several years ago as a resident of PH since 1984 and original founder of PHCA. I have contacted our County commissioners office and reported since they were not aware that this was occurring?Several links to file a noise complaint available. More voices needed to hopefully turn this around.
Good morning, what happened yesterday late night? Does anybody knows ? Police along 15th AV Thanks you
Cannot think the Poinsettia Heights Civic Association board enough for supporting the residents and our quality of life in our neighborhood. Special call out to John Mulroy PA - Broker Associate - Brickell Investment Realty for standing up with his neighbors today! #Thankyou

I am a newly minted member of the Poinsettia civic association, and a 10 year resident. this past year following the hurricane, with several people staying at my place and contractors involved, I lost my old original key locks for the accordion hurricane shutters. they are all the same as you know. But my multiple key locks disappeared. All of them. I cant close and lock my shutters. I will pay a bonus to have access to one of the old key locks, and will attempt to make a duplicate for my use. Help! Thank you! Jerry Fill [email protected] or: 571-426-1287
