An after-school meal is more than food; it gives young people the energy to learn, connect, and grow. This year, Handy is providing after-school meals to 150 youth across our three sites, along with grocery boxes and emergency food support for families facing food insecurity.

$50 provides a week of meals for one youth.

Handy's Healthy Youth Transitions (HYT) program provides youth with personalized case management, counseling, and life skills support. Through a caring, youth-centered approach, youth are gaining the skills, education, and resources they need to build brighter futures

A heartfelt thank you to Children's Opportunity Group of Broward for supporting summer at Handy! Their generosity supported sleepaway camp, nutritious meals, field trips, reliable transportation, and essential hygiene supplies, helping our youth learn, explore, and thrive all summer long.

Another college move-in is complete!

At Handy, our support goes far beyond scholarships. Our life coaches are there to help our Handy Scholars finish packing, load and unload the car, and make that inevitable last-minute Walmart run for the “forgot something” essentials.

This week, we proudly helped Mya move into Florida Atlantic University! We are thrilled to stand beside her every step of the way as she begins this exciting new chapter as a Neuroscience major. Congratulations, Mya, we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish! 💙 ❤️🦉

A special thank you to the City of Fort Lauderdale and Bank of America for partnering with Handy at the 47th Annual Starlight Musicals! Every raffle ticket purchased helped support our work to build brighter futures for youth across Broward County.

We are also incredibly grateful to everyone who donated raffle prizes, volunteered their time, and enthusiastically purchased tickets. Your generosity made this memorable evening even more meaningful!

Our young ladies had an amazing time at our Confidence & Community Girls Brunch! From a confidence-boosting catwalk and an empowering panel discussion to brunch and a hands-on self-care workshop, the girls spent the day learning, connecting, and building skills for life.

We are proud to create spaces where our girls can learn, grow, feel confident, and know they are supported!

Nothing says welcome back like ice cream!

Handy’s NextGen kicked off the first day of our afterschool programs with an ice cream party for our youth, bringing plenty of smiles, sweet treats, and excitement for the year ahead!

We’re so grateful to NextGen for creating a fun and welcoming start to another year of learning, growing, and thriving at Handy.

Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Healthy Youth Transitions (HYT) Caregiver Open House! During this meaningful evening, caregivers learned more about how our HYT program supports their youth, connected with valuable community resources, and met our dedicated community partners. A special thank-you to our caregivers for taking the time to join us, ask thoughtful questions, and remain actively involved in their youth’s success.
