Meet LaWanda Harris, Second Chance Society's Operations & Administrative Coordinator.

For many individuals walking through our doors, LaWanda is one of the very first people they meet. Whether she's answering a phone call, greeting a client, supporting our team, or keeping daily operations running smoothly, she helps create an environment where every person is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Today, LaWanda shares why she believes in Second Chance Society's mission and what it means to help create a place where people feel seen, supported, and encouraged as they begin a new chapter.

Come to the Table: 18th Annual Fall Fellowship Dinner - 10/15 Save the Date!

For 18 years, Fall Fellowship Dinner has been one of Second Chance Society's most meaningful traditions bringing clients, supporters, community leaders, volunteers, and partners to the same table.

When Darryl Young joined Second Chance Society as our Volunteer Coordinator, he brought a passion for service and a commitment to connecting people with meaningful opportunities to give back.

We're also grateful to AARP, whose support and partnership help connect experienced professionals with organizations like ours, strengthening communities through volunteerism and purpose.

We’ve officially launched “Everyone Deserves a Second Chance” - a campaign that creates real opportunities for men and women in Broward County: providing a hand up, not a handout!

BEST OF ALL: Second Chance Society can receive a 5% match on donations through this campaign, but only through August 31st!

We're raising $2,500 to fund barrier removals to employment, process certifications and trainings, and cover vital costs of ID documentation for the formerly incarcerated, homeless, and others who are struggling.

Through your gift, you will add to the more than 17,500 individuals who have been assisted since 2001.

Never Give Up Day is a reminder that perseverance can change lives. Every day, we meet individuals who have faced addiction, homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, or financial hardship. Their stories are proof that setbacks don't have to define the future. With determination, support, and opportunity, new beginnings are possible.

At Second Chance Society, we believe in the power of resilience and the importance of giving people the tools they need to succeed. Because sometimes, all it takes is one second chance to change the course of a life.

This month we're proud to recognize Yasha Riley, Secretary and Board Member of Second Chance Society.

In addition to serving as a Senior Account Manager at Fiserv, Yasha is the founder of Motivation Mobility, a nonprofit inspired by her own recovery journey. Her passion, leadership, and commitment to helping others continue to strengthen our mission every day.
