Las Olas Village

Las Olas Village "Welcome to The Village!" The Las Olas Village will
accentuate our local culture, history, and the environment.

The Las Olas Village is an urban renewal project which will revitalize a key section of downtown Fort Lauderdale
and Las Olas Boulevard. The importance of making a visually distinct section of Las Olas is to create a Transect, a
Zone or District which will successfully connect the long Boulevard to the splendors of Fort Lauderdale Beach (a
"Complete Street"). Located in historic Colee Hammock,

the district's boundaries are Water: Himmarshee Canal to Sospiro Canal, to
the New River along Tarpon Drive. As a Business Association, the goals are to attract customers by improving the walking conditions for pedestrians
and enhancing the overall experience of the area for local residents and tourists alike. The Association's goals, with the assistance and support of the community, the City of Fort Lauderdale and
Broward County, are to restore this section of famed Las Olas Boulevard that has been neglected for many years,
to nurture the neighborhood atmosphere of The Village while improving the safety and appeal of this section of
Las Olas to our visitors and fellow citizens.

It shouldn't be this hard of a battle to make our streets safer for Pedestrians. Especially those that can't RUN across the streets for their dear lives, as we have now....such disrespect on the roads.

It's just one six-lane roadway, just one crusade to help veterans cross the street to the clinic, and it has support from City Halls to the halls of Congress.

"Green spaces in unexpected places"...that's what parklets are, and more! This great article in Florida League of Cities Quality Cities magazine by Mandy Stark Bianchi offers great insight into the benefits of parklets. The inviting little parklet in this picture is at GRAN FORNO on Las Olas and it's the City's first. http://goo.gl/UPLbEl
