In his role with the Broward MPO, Christopher manages and directs all procurement activities and serves as the Contracting Officer for the Metro Transportation Engineering and Construction Cooperative (MTECC). His responsibilities include developing solicitation documents and overseeing contract administration for design, construction engineering inspection, and construction services.

Christopher began his career in public procurement with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as a federal purchasing agent and later continued his work as a contract specialist with Tri-Rail, building a strong foundation in government contracting.

Summer break has officially begun, and across Broward County, kids are heading outside to enjoy their time off from school. riding bikes, walking to friends’ homes, playing in neighborhoods, and spending more time near local streets and sidewalks.

With more activity in our communities, it’s important for all of us to take an extra moment of care behind the wheel and in our neighborhoods.

The Broward MPO is reminding residents to slow down, stay alert, and be especially mindful in areas where children are likely to be present.

⭐ This month, the Broward MPO Board Member Spotlight highlights Commissioner Lisa Mallozzi, Commissioner for the City of Cooper City.⭐

Commissioner Mallozzi’s commitment to public service began with a desire to be heard and to advocate for residents. Today, she continues that mission through her work with the Broward MPO, where she applies key insights into roadway planning, infrastructure funding, and long-term maintenance strategies.

She is especially passionate about improving roadway design, expanding safe bicycle and pedestrian pathways, enhancing school zone safety, and increasing connectivity both locally and across Florida.

Outside of her role, Commissioner Mallozzi enjoys spending time outdoors on Florida’s biking and walking trails, traveling, and studying different public transportation systems to bring new ideas and perspectives back to her work in Broward County.

to May of last year, when the Broward MPO was awarded a $15.44M Federal Railroad Administration Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant to support the Sealed Corridor initiative. 🔙✨

This important funding is helping improve safety and mobility across Broward County by targeting 21 rail-road grade crossings along the Florida East Coast Railway and Brightline corridor. The project includes safety enhancements such as exit gates and raised medians designed to reduce unsafe driving behaviors near crossings.

This effort was made possible through strong collaboration with Broward County and the cities of Dania Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Pompano Beach, and Wilton Manors, which collectively contributed $3.86M in matching funds.

Today, we continue building on this work by advancing rail safety improvements and strengthening our commitment to safer transportation systems across the region.
