Congratulations to Broward County Administrator Monica Cepero! Our County Administrator has been appointed President of the Florida Association of County Managers (FACM) for the 2026-2027 term.

FACM is a professional organization dedicated to strengthening local government through collaboration, education, and the exchange of best practices among Florida's county administrators.

Ms. Cepero brings more than 35 years of state and local government management experience to her role. As Chief Executive Officer, she oversees Broward County-the nation's 17th largest county, serving over 2 million residents with an $8.8 billion annual budget. Operating under the Board of County Commissioners, she directs a workforce of nearly 7,000 employees across 65+ agencies, including the world-class Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades, and the award-winning Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.

A special congratulations to Judge Jeremy Franker, who was celebrated today during his investiture ceremony as the newest County Court Judge in Florida Florida’s 17th Judicial Circuit. During today’s ceremony, Broward County Commission Commissioner Steve Geller presented Judge Franker with an official proclamation designating August 28 2026 as Jeremy I Franker Appreciation Day in Broward County. Congratulations to Judge Franker.

Relief at the pump? Commissioner Michael Udine is pushing for it. He proposed pausing Broward’s 12-cent-per-gallon local gas tax. The County Attorney confirmed it’s feasible and will study the options. “Affordability is a priority. I want to find where costs can be cut and deliver real savings for drivers and residents.” Broward Commissioners at Budget Workshop to discuss FY 2027 budget today.

The Florida Department of Revenue’s official 2026 table lists Broward’s three county-controlled levies as:

* 1¢ ninth-cent tax
* 6¢ local-option tax
* 5¢ additional local-option tax
* Total: 12¢ per gallon

The remaining fuel taxes are state and federal—not controlled by Broward.
