Seven retirements. Seven careers dedicated to serving others.

Over the past month, we’ve had the privilege of celebrating seven members of the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue family as they closed one chapter and began another.

Thank you for your dedication, sacrifice, leadership, and commitment to serving our community. The legacy you leave behind will continue to shape this department for years to come.

As one generation hangs up the helmet, new opportunities are created for the next. Promotions, leadership roles, and career growth all begin because of the foundation built by those who came before.

Congratulations and best wishes to:

🚒 FF James Paszkiewicz
🚒 FF Derick Armstrong
🚒 FF Thomas Eric Fillyaw
🚒 D/E Keith Garner
🚒 Capt. Jake Snowhite
🚒 Capt. Rick Pardo
🚒 Deputy Chief Chantal Botting

Thank you for helping us protect paradise. Enjoy your well-earned retirement.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue is growing, and we’re looking for a strong financial leader who wants to be part of something bigger than just numbers on a spreadsheet.

We are hiring a Public Safety Administrator – Financial Manager, someone who can help us build, shape, and guide the financial future of this department. This role plays a critical part in developing our operating and capital budgets, forecasting our needs, and ensuring our firefighters and paramedics have the resources required to serve this city at the highest level.

But what matters just as much as the work itself is the team you’ll be joining.

At Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, we pride ourselves on being a family. We support one another, we show up for one another, and we take seriously the fact that the work we do impacts our community on their hardest days. Everyone, whether in operations, administration, or support, contributes to that mission, and everyone is valued.

If you’re a collaborative leader who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and wants to contribute to a department with purpose and heart, this is your chance to step into a role where your work truly matters.

Come be part of something greater.

Protecting paradise isn’t for everyone.

It takes courage. Commitment. And a willingness to answer the call when others need you most.

Today, we celebrate the firefighters who wear this badge with pride at our annual Medals Day Ceremony.

Soon, we’ll be looking for the next generation to join them.

🚒 Stay tuned.

This morning, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue joined agencies from across South Florida for a large-scale mass casualty training exercise designed to test coordination, communication, and emergency response under pressure.

While the scenario was simulated, the training is very real. Exercises like this help ensure first responders are prepared when seconds matter most.

🚒 Train together. Respond together. Save lives together.
