👋 Big news for the ALx community! We have joined the Army University Press (AUP) educational portfolio.

Why the change? To expand our reach and deliver a unified leader development platform!

AUP brings cutting-edge thought on defense topics, and ALx provides the targeted delivery to put those concepts into action. Our vision is that this curated content will motivate you to read, write, and mentor more actively.

Because of this exciting transition, we will be closing the ALx social media accounts shortly. The good news? You can still get all the latest news and resources straight to your inbox!✉️

💡 AI is transforming the battlefield — but it can’t replace what makes leaders truly effective.

As AI becomes more capable in situational awareness, decision‑making, and coordination, it’s easy to assume it can do everything for us. But overreliance comes with real risks. When leaders stop exercising independent judgment, ethical reasoning, and human connection, the force loses the very qualities that make it resilient.

The Army’s advantage has never been technology alone — it’s the synergy between people and machines. Leaders who understand both the strengths and the limits of AI will be the ones who thrive in this new era.

By balancing cutting‑edge tools with time‑tested human‑centric leadership, we can ensure AI enhances — not erodes — the attributes that define effective command.

Leadership shouldn't feel like sustained self-neglect. 🛑

If you are a senior leader, you know the weight of the responsibility. The long hours, the geographical bachelor tours, the missed family milestones, and the pressure to project perfection can slowly drain your energy. Add in the natural challenges of midlife—caring for aging parents, changing marriages, or planning for an unfamiliar retirement—and the risk of burnout skyrockets.

A recent article from the US Army War College highlights a critical strategy for leaders: cultivating your Identity, Meaning, and Purpose (IMP).

You don't have to just "gut it out." There is a better way to navigate this tension without sacrificing your well-being or your commitment to the mission.

Don't wait until your internal resources are fully depleted. Read the article below to learn how to actively invest in your IMP, replenish your energy, and ensure you have the strength to lead your teams—and be present for your family—for years to come. 👇
