Harrold Youth Center (HYC) is the central facility for middle school and high school aged youth on Fort Leavenworth. The building houses a 9,000 ft2 gymnasium, a Rec Room complete with 120” home theater screen and 7.1 surround sound system, billiard tables, and seating, a Teen Lounge for use by high school youth during the daily After-School Program, a Homework Lab with lending library of some of
the most popular series, a dedicated tutor, textbooks used by the local school districts, and a Technology Lab with an 8-terminal computer lab and other electronics and tech gadgets. HYC also hosts many special events such as:
Monthly dances for 6th-9th graders! Monthly video game tournaments with valuable prizes! SAT/ACT and College prep seminars! Field trips during holiday & summer breaks to local water parks, amusement parks, shopping centers, movie theaters, arcades, laser tag, skiing and more! The HYC After-School Program operates throughout the school year giving you a place to hang out with friends in the afternoon. HYC provides free bus service from all middle schools and high schools on post and in Leavenworth/Lansing. A tasty snack is provided each day, along with homework assistance, access to the computer lab, organized sports in the gym, photography and gardening clubs, craft and cooking activities, dance and other instructional classes, and frequent trips to Merritt Lake for fishing or The Strike Zone for bowling. Services are FREE to those registered with Child, Youth, & School Services! HYC also operates an all day Summer Camp Program and Non-School Day Program with daily field trips and meals provided (for a fee).
