As a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic, many have been left unemployed or laid off. Despite government subsidies being provided to many of these individuals, there is also a significant amount of those such as undocumented immigrants or single parent households who, in addition to unemployment, have not qualified for government relief funding or continue to struggle even with federal aid.
This lack of income and financial struggle has left many barely able to afford basic necessities and pay regular bills. Amidst this crisis, as personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face coverings have become mandatory in public settings, there becomes yet another point of spending for these struggling individuals.
As part of a community project organized by CAPE, a student-run organization for social equity, we are hosting a PPE drive in which we plan on creating and delivering PPE packages consisting of masks and hand sanitizers to those who are financially unstable.
Your donation will not only relieve another monetary burden for struggling families and individuals, but it will also ensure that people will be provided with proper equipment to protect themselves, those around them, and help slow the spread of the virus.
Regardless of the amount, if you are able to donate, please consider doing so; anything helps. Your donation will alleviate the financial pressure that many are experiencing as a result of the current situation and help more individuals access appropriate protection. 현재 코로나 사태로 인해 많은 사람들이 어려움을 겪고 있습니다. 이중 정부 지원금을 지급받은 사람들도 있는 반면, 정부 지원금을 받지 못하거나 그럼에도 불구하고 어려운 상황에 처해 계신 분들도 많습니다.
이러한 현실로 인해 많은 사람들이 기본적인 필수품 조차 구하지 못하는 상황이 일어났습니다. 또한 요즘 공공 장소에서 마스크와 같은 개인 보호 장비 착용이 의무화되면서 경제적 부담을 느끼는 이들도 많이 있을 것으로 생각됩니다.
우리 사회의 차별 및 불평등에 맞서 시민들의 의식을 높이고 제도 개선을 추구하는 청소년 단체인 CAPE (Community Activity Promoting Equality)에서 경제적인 어려움을 겪고 있는 분들을 위해 마스크와 손소독제를 비롯한 코로나 보호 장비 나눔을 하려 합니다.
여러분의 소중한 기부는 이러한 이웃들의 부담을 덜어 줄 뿐만 아니라 최대한 많은 사람들에게 자신과 주변을 보호하며 바이러스 확산을 늦출 수 있는 적절한 장비를 제공하는데 쓰여질 것입니다.
