One thing Fort Lee has always been known for is stepping up for our own. Mike has served fort lee in numerous roles with in the Fort Lee Volunteer Fire Department for 40 plus years. Serving as Chief of Department and coming back around again to step up as a Lt. Its our turn to help our brother in need after a fire ravaged his home last week in Leonia. Mike is the kind of human who would give anyone at anytime the shirt off his back. Anyone who can help, it’s greatly appreciated.

Three simple steps to ensure success at the firehouse today. 🚒⬇️

1️⃣ Show up to the firehouse expecting you will GO TO A FIRE TODAY.

2️⃣ Assume that fire is going to be the WORST OF YOUR CAREER.

3️⃣ Do the things NOW to be READY for it.

It’s simple, yet many fail to approach the job this way.

🤔 If you knew that tonight you were going to the worst fire of your life - have you done everything you can to set yourself up for success? Are your skills, fitness, gear, apparatus, mindset, plans, etc dialed in?

🤦🏻‍♂️ Or would you be scrambling at the last minute to fix this and change that - things you have had plenty of time to square away?

When it matters most, the question will be - are you ready, OR NOT?

The fireground has no sympathy for your lack of preparedness. And nobody thinks “it” will happen to them or their friends.

“Tonight could be the night” 🔥

One hundred years ago today, Fort Lee Fire Firefighter Fred Cavaliere died as a result of critical injuries sustained while fighting a fire at the National Evans Film Laboratory located at the corner of Linwood Avenue and Main Street. An ammonia tank inside the building exploded, causing a major collapse of the structure. The incident occurred February 7, 1925. Cavalier died at Englewood Hospital four days later from severe internal injuries. He had been a member of Fort Lee Volunteer Fire Department Company #1 for seven years at the time of his death. Fireman Fred Cavaliere made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and his bravery should never be forgotten. Being the only firefighter killed in the line of duty, his death serves as a solemn reminder of the risks every firefighter takes when responding to an emergency.

These are people who step up, not because they have to, but because they want to serve our community. They sacrifice time with their families, sleep, and sometimes their own safety, all for the sake of helping others. Thank you to all of our Fort Lee Volunteer Firefighters – thank you for your service, your courage and your unwavering commitment to keeping us safe in Fort Lee. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

🚨 🌨️❄️Weather Alert: A snowstorm is forecasted to begin midday Sunday, bringing several inches of snow to our area.

Please be mindful of streets that have "No Parking When Road is Snow Covered" signs. This is for your safety and will allow plows, emergency vehicles and garbage trucks to pass through the streets easily.
During snowstorms when vehicles must be removed from the street for snow removal, the Fort Lee Parking Authority allows residents to park in any one of the municipal parking lots (except the Guntzer Street parking lot) free of charge. However, once the storm has passed parking fees will resume. The Fort Lee Board of Education has advised us that no parking will be permitted on school property.
If you are not signed up for NIXLE, the Fort Lee Police Department’s emergency notification system, text 07024 to 888777 for more updates.
If you are traveling, please give yourself extra time and travel safely.

Thank you for your cooperation while we clean the streets and stay safe Fort Lee!
