The Mud Rounds: The British Invasion and the Great Retreat Across the Jerseys
Fort Lee and Fort Washington were key positions in the American effort to defend the Hudson River during the Revolutionary War. In November 1776, British forces captured both forts within days of each other, taking thousands of American soldiers and valuable supplies. These defeats forced George Washington and his army into a retreat across New Jersey at a critical moment in the war.
Join author and historian Todd Braisted as he explores the fall of Fort Washington and Fort Lee, the events surrounding the British advance, and the challenges Washington faced in the weeks leading up to the American victories at Trenton and Princeton.
