Good Afternoon Defender Families!

We had the absolute privilege of promoting an outstanding soldier this week. SPC Henry has put it the work day in and day out as our Company Supply Sergeant, while also completing schooling and raising a family.
We greatly appreciate her commitment and attitude, and look forward to seeing her flourish as a SPC.

Good Afternoon Defender Family!
It has been an exciting few weeks here in Delta Company. Our soldiers finished up their 12B/C training and completed their culminating field exercise.
They spent 4 days in the field doing engineer tasks, competing in platoon competitions, and learning field craft. They finished off the week with a company sized breach, crossing a wet gap on a boat built by our 12C’s and our 12 B’s breaching an enemy obstacle.
With graduation quickly approaching, please take a look at our graduation information post.
We look forward to celebrating with you in 4 short days!

Good Afternoon Defender Family!
Today was a bittersweet day in Delta, we had to say goodbye to 1SG Damin. The commitment and genuine care he put into the company and his soldiers is unmatched. We are going to miss him dearly but we are immensely proud and excited for his next adventure.
On a happier note - we got to welcome 1SG Lowder! We have heard many great things and look forward to what he will bring to the team.

Today, the 1st Engineer Brigade recognized 17 individuals by presenting them with the de Fleury Medal.

The de Fleury Medal honors and recognizes those individuals who have provided significant contributions to Army Engineering. The medal also emphasizes the history, customs, and traditions of the Corps of Engineers community.

The medal is named for a French Engineer Francois Louis Tesseidre de Fleury, a French engineer who served with the American Army in its fight for independence from Britain during the American Revolutionary War. The Continental Congress appointed de Fleury a captain of engineers, and he quickly proved himself through courage under fire. On October 1,1779, de Fleury was praised for his valor by the men who had penned the Declaration of Independence and who would later sign the Constitution. For his intrepid behavior, the Continental Congress ordered that a medal be struck in his honor.

It is always a great sight when organizations recognize excellence within the Engineer Regiment. Keep up the great work, 1st Engineer Brigade "Sappers First!".
