Detectives need help solving decades old cold case homicide of Fort Lupton farmer

On Aug. 27, 1986, Gerald J. Dreiling was discovered dead in his home by one of his family members. He had returned home from a family gathering to change the water in an irrigation ditch, and when he did not return to the gathering after an hour, a family member went to check on him. After finding Gerald face down in his house, the family member called 911, and emergency personnel responded. It appeared to detectives Gerald may have interrupted a burglary at his residence, and he was forced to lie prone in a hallway and was shot.

If you have any information about this case, please call our tip line at (970) 304-6464 or email your tip to [email protected] .

🏍Lane Filtering law to protect motorcyclists and drivers

ℹ Understanding traffic laws is a key part of keeping Colorado’s roads safe. To make that information easier to access, we have released a video series that explains several new and existing laws all drivers should know. The “Road Laws” series includes three videos, each focused on a different set of laws. The videos are available on CDOT’s YouTube channel and are intended to serve as a simple reference for drivers looking to brush up on the rules of the road.

CO 52 east of WCR 19 to close for four nights, Aug. 30-Sept. 2

From Sunday, Aug. 30 to Wednesday, Sept. 2, Colorado Highway 52 will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews make bridge repairs just east of Weld County Road 19. Due to the narrow work zone and the equipment needed to perform the work, a full highway safety closure is necessary.

Local access to properties between WCR 19 and WCR 21 will be maintained from the east side of the closure. A signed detour for through traffic on CO 52 will direct motorists to use I-25 on the west and US Highway 85 on the east to either CO 7 or CO 66 to bypass the closure.

All construction activities are weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
