Did you know the LCHD offers CPR/First aid training for area childcare providers?

As we recognize CPR & AED Awareness Week, it is important to remember that this lifesaving, if performed immediately, can double, or triple a cardiac arrest victim's chance of survival. More than 23,000 children experience cardiac arrest outside of the hospital each year - 40% are related to sports and 20% are infants.

Amy Hayes, Child Care Nurse Consultant, has instructed 60 area childcare providers since July 2025. If you are interested in learning more about this service please reach out to Amy at 319-372-5225.

For Immediate Release: Lee County HOPES Program Earns National Accreditation
Families in Lee County are benefiting from nationally recognized support as the HOPES program at the Lee County Health Department has earned accreditation from Prevent Child Abuse America as a Healthy Families America site. HOPES provides free, voluntary home visiting services to pregnant individuals and families with young children, offering support with child development, parenting, and connections to local resources, all in the comfort of their own home. This achievement represents the dedication of HOPES home visitors, who build trusting relationships with families and provide consistent, personalized support during pregnancy and early childhood. Accreditation is based on a rigorous review process grounded in more than 30 years of research, evaluating both program operations and the quality of home visits. “We are proud of our team and the families we serve,” said Missy Park, program manager. “This recognition reflects our staff’s hard work and commitment to helping families build strong, healthy futures.” In the past year, HOPES staff served 139 families through more than 2,000 home visits across Lee County. Programs like HOPES help build stronger families, healthier children, and a more connected community, one visit at a time.
For more information or to enroll in the HOPES program, contact Missy Park at 319-372-5225.

B – Border: Are the edges of the mole not defined?

C – Color: Does the mole have multiple colors?

D – Diameter: Is it larger than the size of a pencil eraser?

E – Evolving: Has the mole changed in size, color or texture over time?
