The 181st Eagle Brigade invites our community to join us in honoring Mr. Walter Edward Rakow on Friday, January 10th at a Memorial Service held at 11am CST on Fort McCoy.

Mr. Rakow served in the as a Command Sergeant Major, the senior enlisted advisor for the brigade, before retiring and continuing his service as an Army civilian in the role of the 181st MFTB's deputy S3. He served and worked alongside the brigade for over 22 years, and will be remembered fondly by the brigade and by all who had the opportunity to know him.

Mr. Rakow served 31 years as a Soldier from 1976 to 2007, and 17 years as an Army civilian from 2007 to 2024. His combined 48 years of service to the Army has had a lasting impact and his loss will be felt deeply.
