WarriorWOD Foundation cWarriorWOD combines exercise, nutrition coaching, and Battle Buddy peer mentorship into one structured six-month program — at zero cost to veterans. It is a research-backed, results-driven recovery program for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress, suicidal ideations, and substance abuse.

Recovery isn’t a prescription. It isn’t a 30-minute appointment. But that’s what most veterans get when they come home — and too many lose ground because of it. WarriorWOD’s veteran PTSD recovery program was founded in 2021 to provide what the system couldn’t: six months of structure, a peer who walks the road with you, and the time recovery actually takes.

The organization isn't taking new members today, however it is still collecting donations to help more veterans get access to their program. If you or a veteran you know is in crisis, call 988 (Veterans Crisis Line) or text 838255

Support a research-backed veteran recovery program reducing PTS symptoms through exercise, nutrition, and mentorship.

Here's an organization for you history buffs.
The South Carolina Battleground Preservation Trust (SCBPT) is a 501 (c) 3 not-for profit corporation established in 1993 and dedicated to the preservation of South Carolina’s historic battlegrounds and military sites.

Working with property owners, developers, and local and state agencies, we use a variety of tools to ensure our state’s military heritage sites are not forgotten.

We seek to protect and preserve historic military sites across South Carolina. In doing so we honor the soldiers who gave their lives in service to their country, keeping their efforts alive in the minds of current and future generations.

We aim to preserve hallowed grounds, so any and all can remember, contemplate, discuss, and learn how our history — how it not only shapes the past but also guides the present and future of our great state and nation.

The South Carolina Battleground Preservation Trust (SCBPT) is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit corporation established in 1991 and dedicated to the preservation of South Carolina’s historic battlegrounds and military sites. Our board and staff work diligently to ensure the state's military heritage site...

Battle Buddies was started in 2012 by John and Jo Anne Creed. John, a Marine Veteran who is disabled and Jo Anne originally started by volunteering as puppy raisers for other organizations for mobility disabilities. After meeting several veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries in their state of South Carolina, they saw a need for service dogs and Battle Buddies was born.

We're starting a series of veteran organizations around the state. Today's highlight is Operation Patriots FOB. OPFOB has created a place for veterans, active duty military, first responders, and their families to come together, relax, and have a good time with their brothers and sisters. It is a space where they feel accepted and are able to open up without doctors hovering over them and trying to analyze the worst days of their lives with a textbook diagnosis. Instead, we’re giving them the opportunity to regain that connection to the people who will understand the most and ask the least.

OPFOB is an outdoor retreat located in Ridgeland, SC in the Lowcountry, where veterans, active duty, first responders, and families find healing, camaraderie, and purpose.

For you research-minded folk, here's a fascinating podcast brought to you by the VA.

The Vets First podcast is a research-based podcast that focuses on the VA healthcare system and its patients. Instead of being just another research podcast, the Vets First podcast was created with a primary focus on the Veterans and their stories. The hosts, Levi Sowers PhD, and Brandon Rea work to bridge the gap between the state-of-the-art research being performed at Veterans Affairs and the Veterans themselves in an easy-to-understand manner. Importantly, Levi and Brandon want to assist researchers around the country to better understand the needs of Veterans.
