We look forward to working with Mayor Pohlgeers and the city administration to collaborate and strengthen our community…grateful to be a part of Fort Mitchell and Northern Kentucky.

Greg Pohlgeers, Mayor of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky had the opportunity to meet with General Manager Bo Honebrink and Craig Grabow of Highland Cemetery today to discuss their important role in our community and ways we can continue working together.

Founded in 1869, Highland Cemetery has served Northern Kentucky for more than 150 years and is the final resting place of many individuals who helped shape the history of our region. Beyond its historical significance, Highland Cemetery, located at 2167 Dixie Highway, is a valued community partner that takes great pride in preserving its beautiful grounds and providing a peaceful place for reflection.

Many residents may not realize that Highland Cemetery is also home to several scenic nature trails that are open to the public. These trails offer a quiet escape for walking, enjoying nature, and experiencing one of Fort Mitchell's hidden gems. The city and cemetery are holding a Hike at Highland Cemetery (Guided Tour) on Sunday, June 28 at 8:30am. For more information about Highland Cemetery, go to https://highlandcemetery.com/.

We will begin picking up all flowers and decorations that are not in permanent vases today.

Decorations will be laid out by our maintenance building if you want to come pick up your items.

We know this can be difficult for some families and hard to understand, but please know this is a necessary step in keeping the Cemetery beautiful and well-kept.

We will begin gathering flags and picking up any decorations that are not in permanent vases next Monday. Items other than flowers will be kept near the maintenance building if you want to pick up any decorations, but we highly recommend coming to pick them up before Monday.

Today we give thanks to those who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today. It is an honor to get to care for the final resting spaces of thousands of veterans and their families and friends.

Pictured is a rainbow over the Cemetery and a young Patriot you might see around.

Also, our Yucca plants bloomed just this morning…a fitting start to the day.

Thank you to the local Boy Scouts for marking the many Veteran’s graves at the Cemetery.

Check out all the new flowers and plants!

These are thanks to our Beautification Specialist, Stacey Rich…this is Stacey’s first Spring at the Cemetery, and she has had a huge impact…we are grateful to have her here. She has also removed a bunch of honeysuckle, cleaned up around our lakes,
and done many other things to make the Cemetery more beautiful.

As we prepare for Memorial Day, we’ve updated our map with QR codes.

One takes you directly to Find-a-Grave, where you can search for a loved one’s exact location.

The other takes you to our Section Maps.

These links combined with the overall map can get you to any grave in the Cemetery.

The office will be open extra hours on Saturday and Monday from 9-12pm.
