The City of Fort Mitchell is not declaring a snow emergency at this time; however, based on the current forecast, we are asking residents to please avoid parking vehicles on city streets starting this evening.

This will reduce safety risks for our Public Works Department, first responders, and the public by encouraging vehicles to be removed from streets so plows and emergency vehicles can operate safely. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to keep Fort Mitchell safe during the winter weather.

Stay tuned for updates (including when we declare and rescind our snow emergencies)—we’ll keep you informed about any official announcements via our website (fortmitchell.com), social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, X) e-newsletter (signup at fortmitchell.com), our digital sign located in front of the city building, and the local media.

Thank you for helping us keep Fort Mitchell moving!

Kenton County is rescinding its Level 2 Snow Emergency, effective Jan. 26, at 4:00 p.m. The County's Level 1 Snow Emergency remains in effect.

While our roadway conditions have greatly improved, residents should still use caution when driving as areas could refreeze due to our low temperatures.

Kenton County Public Works is continuing its effort to clear and treat secondary roads within our coverage area. We appreciate residents' patience as we tackle Winter Storm Fern's impacts.

01/25/2026

Due to the weather conditions, the City of Fort Mitchell Administrative offices will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.

01/25/2026

Kenton County is transitioning to a 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟮 𝗦𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆, effective 7:45 a.m. This means roadways are hazardous, and only motorists whose travel is deemed necessary should be on the roads. Residents should contact their employer to see if they should report to work.

Conditions will continue to be monitored closely, and this designation may be elevated if weather or road conditions worsen.

The City of Fort Mitchell is issuing a Snow Emergency, effective at 12:00pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026, until rescinded.

Please remove all vehicles from city streets until the snow emergency has been lifted so our snowplows can do their job.

Please share, be safe, and thank you for your cooperation!

Here’s what you need to know when the City of Fort Mitchell declares a snow emergency:

Why Fort Mitchell Calls a Snow Emergency:

• Safety First: Ensuring safe and clear roads for emergency services and residents

• Better Snow Removal: Clear streets mean faster and more thorough plowing

• Prevent Hazards: Parked cars make it dangerous for plows to navigate, especially at night

• Reliable Data: We base our decisions on the best weather forecasts and updates from the National Weather Service

What You Can Expect During a Snow Emergency:

• Move Vehicles Off the Street: This allows our plows to work efficiently without weaving between cars

• Plowing Timeline: Crews work around the clock to clear roads as quickly as possible, starting with main routes and working into neighborhoods

• Avoid Unnecessary Travel: Give plows space to do their job safely

• Basketball Goals: Move basketball goals away from the street and from cul-de-sacs

• Shoveling: When shoveling/blowing snow off of your driveway, etc., please don't shovel/blow it into the street

• Keep Snow and Ice Five Feet Away From Fire Hydrants: This allows firefighters quicker access in case of a fire

• Friendly Reminder: During a snow emergency, vehicles parked on city streets will be ticketed

We know weather predictions don’t always play out exactly as expected, but we make these decisions with your safety in mind. Removing vehicles during a snow emergency helps our crews keep everyone moving safely.

Be safe and thank you snow much for your cooperation!

At this time, the City of Fort Mitchell has not declared a snow emergency; however, based on the current forecast, there is a high probability a snow emergency will be declared.

To help our Public Works team prepare and safely clear city streets, we are asking residents to please avoid parking vehicles on city streets starting this evening.

If a snow emergency is declared, vehicles parked on the street may be ticketed. Contrary to popular belief, issuing tickets during a snow emergency is not a revenue maker for the city. Tickets are used solely to reduce safety risks for our Public Works crews, first responders, and the public by encouraging vehicles to be removed from the streets so plows and emergency vehicles can operate safely.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to keep Fort Mitchell safe during winter weather. Please continue to monitor city updates for any changes.

Please remove your parked cars from the city streets so our public works crew can clear the streets! Thank you!
