The Fort Morgan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing adult. Jedidiah Camacho, born August 7, 1980, has not been in contact with his family since December 2025.

He was last seen leaving a medical facility in the Highlands Ranch area in January 2026 and may have since been in and out of medical facilities and living as a transient in the Denver Metro area.

At this time, it is unknown if he has returned to the Fort Morgan area, but if you are in contact with him, the family asks that you encourage him to reach out to family members or contact law enforcement so they can confirm he is safe.

If you believe you have seen Jedidiah, or have information that can help locate him, please contact local law enforcement.

*****Case Update*****

Richard Lara, a previously convicted Child S*x Offender who completed probation in 2017 for a similar crime, appeared in District Court on June 4, 2026, after a plea agreement had been reached.

The judge denied the plea agreement after it stipulated a sentence of 2 years in the Department of Corrections followed by 2 years of probation.

On July 2, 2026, Lara was again in District Court after a different plea agreement had been reached. Again, the judge denied the agreement.

On August 21, 2026, the court accepted a plea agreement in this case that included a guilty plea to added counts:

* Criminal Mischief (F5)
* S*xual Exploit of a Child (F5)

Lara was sentenced consecutively on these charges with a 4-year sentence to the Department of Correction (2-year mandatory parole) for the Criminal Mischief charge and 6 years of intensive supervised probation for the S*xual Exploitation of a Child. Lara was credited for 445 days’ time served for his pre-sentence jail time.

The Fort Morgan Police Department received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) regarding Richard Lara (34 Years old) involving child po*******hy. A search warrant and an arrest warrant were executed on June 3, and Lara was arrested on 1 charge of S*xual Exploitation of a Child and was advised by a judge later in the afternoon. He was given a $50k cash/surety bond at advisement.

This case is ongoing and may lead to further charges.

Richard Lara is a registered s*x offender with a 2017 conviction for a similar crime.

*All charges are simply an accusation by law enforcement, and all parties must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

ICAC cases often require a significant amount of time to fully investigate. This is because that they can take time to get search warrant information returned from internet providers, to determine who is using a specific IP address to download or upload illegal content, Once the information is returned, the police narrow down on a suspect and all computers, phones, and other digital evidence that may be capable of sending or receiving these messages, must be seized and forensically reviewed (often at a lab) for evidence. Only after the illegal content is located and the owner/possessor of the information is identified, is an arrest warrant sought.

The Fort Morgan Police Department has two investigators who are assigned to work all drug investigations and child po*******hy cases that come through our department.

********Update to the previously issued statement***********

This occurred well before the school day began and was not during the time of a school zone. The student was crossing Acoma from the north side of the street, in an area not marked as a crosswalk. The vehicle was travelling south on West Street and turned east onto Acoma after stopping at the stop sign. The child was near the south side of the street when struck.

The student appeared to have looked for oncoming traffic before entering the street, and the driver did not see the student crossing the street.

The speed limit on Acoma, during this time of day, is 30 mph, and speed is not a factor in this crash.
