This week's focuses on a unit within the FMPD that provides a unique service to our community.

The FMPD's Bike Patrol Officers are a specialized unit providing assistance where foot patrol is not a practical solution and patrol cars cannot go. These officers go through significant training to learn how to effectively serve on a bicycle and benefit our community.

In 2025, they logged:
🛣 560 miles
🚲 nearly 118 hours of riding time
📞 72 calls for service
📃 4 summonses

This week's looks behind the scenes at the Special Enforcement Team or SET unit. This team consists of a dedicated group of officers who take on additional responsibilities beyond their regular assignments to address specific community concerns. These officers lead specialized operations addressing ongoing or emerging issues.

In 2025, the Special Enforcement Team conducted 15 targeted enforcement operations, which included:

🔹Drug sales
🔹Drug arrests
🔹Search warrants
🔹DUI enforcement
🔹Firework enforcement
🔹Felony warrant round-up
🔹Security detail for large events
🔹BATTLE (Beating Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement)

Beyond operational duties, the SET team plays a vital role in firearm safety. When prohibited individuals attempt to purchase a firearm and are flagged by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the team determines if criminal charges are necessary after a thorough examination of the case.

SET team members’ dedication to go beyond their required duties is a testament to the FMPD's mission to keep Fort Morgan a safe community.
