This is the official page of the Morgan County Tourism Panel, which is the board that collects a lodging tax accumulated in Morgan County. The Panel hears requests from events held within Morgan County and offers advertising to be used towards enticing visitors to stay in Morgan County during our many events throughout the year!
Tomky Fish Farms spans 170 acres and includes 4 lakes with over 41 species of fish, including trout, perch, crappie, catfish, walleye, saugeye, sauger, and many more. FRIDAY BYWAY: Pawnee Pioneer Trails Scenic and Historic Byway - Once a thorough fare for Colorado's early Native Tribal Peoples, ambitious settlers, entrepreneurs and migrating herds of bison; this 125-mile route runs through northeast Colorado's rolling prairies. The road offers stunning views of the 250-foot-tall Sandstone Pawnee Buttes, Pawnee National Grasslands and abundant wildlife. You may share the roads with bison, pronghorn, lots of cows. Pawnee Pioneer Trails travels through some of the last untouched prairie in North America!
Hiking Trails: Pawnee Buttes is a 1.5 mile family hike to the first Butte. In addition check out the Trappers' Trail, Texas-Montana Trail, and the Overland Trail.
Pawnee Bird Tour: Pick up a brochure and map at the USDA Forest Service Office in Ault. There are 13 stops and it will take 3-4 hours by car. Depending on the season you’ll see: Kinglets, Gnatcatchers, Solitaires, Mockingbirds, Starlings, Pipits, Tanagers, Orioles, Loons, Pelicans, Herons, Spoonbills, Swans, Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, Rails, Cranes, Cuckoos, Owls, Hummingbirds and that’s just a sampling.
The Pawnee Pioneer Trail Colorado Scenic and Historic Byways tells the story of the Pawnee National Grassland and the Pawnee Buttes. Have fun exploring the region's history at the Overland Trail Museum in Sterling, which details the customs and culture of the Plains Indians. The Visitor Center and Rest Area in Sterling, Colorado also provide an interpretive wall designated for the Pawnee Pioneer Trails Byway.
PAWNEE PIONEER GRAVEL WEEKEND is September 2-4, 2022. There are bike route options for everyone. Celebrates both Pawnee Pioneer Trails Scenic Byway and the communities that surround the Byway. Colorado has more to offer than just the Rocky Mountains! There is so much to explore on the Eastern Plains - join the wagon train.
